Item specifics
Condition: Used Model Year: 1949
Make: Luscombe
Up for sale is my 1949 Luscombe 8F Silvaire with full electrical system. If you have every flown a Luscombe, you need no further introduction to what it is and how it fly"s. For those of you who dont, this plane is as close to FLYING as you can get without a jetpack. Basic instruments, radio, Mode C Xponder, AutoFuel STC, Scott Tailwheel, is all you need to experience FLYING. There is a saying that real pilots fly taildragger"s. Well its true. Forget your Cessnas, Pipers (exclude Cub), etc. This plane was designed for one thing...flying. Polished aluminum with painted upper fuselage, tail numbers (old school), and engine cowling. Continental C-90 engine with total time since FACTORY overhaul about 1500 hrs (Will confirm exact numbers). Overhauled Marvel Shebler carburator (it is a work of art), new fuel selector switch, original wheel pants, custom interior, dual wing tanks, Goodyear Brakes, full logs, current annual, always hangared, this airplane will make you feel alive. The Good:
This plane is ready to fly. It has always been maintained, oil changed frequently, even if I did not fly it. Radio, COM, Xpndr will allow you to fly anywhere VFR allows. THIS THING GETS ATTENTION EVERYWHERE YOU GO. NO JOKE.
The Bad:
THIS THING GETS ATTENTION EVERYWHERE YOU GO. NO JOKE!!!! Why bad? A polished aircraft is the perfect magnet for people to put their oily fingers on your leading edge and ask their wife to take a picture. I once put my arm around a mans wife while she was taking a picture and the guy got mad. I told him that he took the liberty of touching my girl, therefore I touched his. This is the only reason I am selling my pride and joy. I work too many hours and dont get enough time in her. I treat her like a convertible with no top. Only out on sunny days. Tough in the Florida summers.
I had her polished about 3 months ago and I would say she is at 85-90%. She can get back to 100% but I would not take her out. Yes...it is awesome to see a polished airplane on the ramp but it is a labor of love. Similar to maintaining the chrome on a Harley.
Feel free to ask any questions. I have all the logs from day one. It comes with a complete set of Bruce"s Custom Covers still in the box (Canopy Cover, Wing Covers, Prop Cover $1300.00 cost). Have more pictures if required. Maybe interested in trades...Porsche, Corvette, land, etc.
