1956 BEECH G-35 BONANZA, IO-470N 260 HP, SUPER NICE IN AND OUT, TIP TANKS, TAIL DAMAGE, CHEAP !!
THIS G MODEL BONANZA HAS BEEN UPGRADED SO THAT IT IS SIMILAR TO A P MODEL, THE MOST BALANCED OF THE V TAILED LINE !!
THE MAJOR UPGRADE IS THE UPGRADE FROM THE OLD E-225 TO THE TOP OF THE LINE FUEL INJECTED IO-470, THE 260 H.P. IO-470N FROM THE P MODEL BONANZA !!
THE IO-470N IN THIS AIRPLANE HAS 940 HOURS SINCE MAJOR OVERHAUL (1800 TBO)
THE PROPELLER HAS ALSO BEEN UPGRADED TO A MODERN MCCAULEY HYDRAULIC PROP, AND THIS ONE HAS ONLY 595 HOURS SINCE OVERHAUL.
ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE UPGRADE IS AWESOME, MAKING THIS AIRPLANE A 170 KNOT CRUISER, THE ENGINE AND PROP ARE NOT THE ONLY ATTENTION SLATHERED ON THIS AIRPLANE.
IN FACT, THERE ARE UPGRADES WHEREVER YOU LOOK !
WHEN I GO TO LOOK AT AIRPLANES, AFTER I HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT THEM AND BEFORE I SELL THEM, I GET A FEW MOMENTS THAT REMIND ME OF UNWRAPPING CHRISTMAS OR BIRTHDAY PRESENTS WHEN YOU WERE A KID.
I BUY AIRPLANES AS-IS, OFTEN WITH LITTLE OR NO INFORMATION ABOUT OVERALL CONDITION, SO I NEVER KNOW, WHEN THE HANGER DOOR OPENS UP IF I AM GOING TO GET A GREEN SWEATER OR A LEGO SET !!
PEOPLE OFTEN ASK ME WHY I DO WHAT I DO. MAYBE I LIKE THE REVEAL.
WELL, WHEN I OPEN THE HANGER DOOR TODAY, I GOT A GREAT LEGO SET !!!!!
I ALREADY NEW THIS AIRPLANE HAD THE UPGRADED ENGINE AND PROP, BUT HERE IS WHAT ELSE I FOUND;
OSBORNE TIP TANKS!!!
THE OSBORNE TANKS ARE 20 GALLONS EACH, SO WHEN YOU COMBINE THEM WITH THE 54 GALLONS THE G35 COMES WITH, YOU HAVE AN AWESOME 94 GALLON CAPABILITY !!!
THESE ARE LATER MODEL OSBORNES, AS THEY HAVE BOTH A NAV LIGHT AND THE STROBE UNDER GLASS, NOTHING DRAGGING
SPEAKING OF LIGHTING, THIS AIRPLANE HAS BEEN UPGRADED WITH HIGH INTENSITY LANDING LIGHTS, A TAIL STROBE, AND THE FUSELAGE ROTATING BEACON HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH THE NEWEST STYLE OF LED FLASHING BEACON BY WHELEN, AT A COST OF XXXXXXXXX$
AFTER I GOT EXCITED ABOUT THE TIP TANKS, THE NEXT THING I NOTICED WAS THE GLASS. YOU CAN TELL A LOT ABOUT AN AIRPLANE FROM THE GLASS, BECAUSE IT IS EXPENSIVE AND A PAIN TO CHANGE, SO MOST PEOPLE ONLY DO IT WHEN THEY HAVE THIER AIRPLANE PAINTED. THE FACT THAT THIS AIRPLANE HAS FANTASTIC GLASS, INCLUDING THE THICK SIDE GLASS, FRAMELESS PILOTS WINDOW AND THE BDS SPEEDSLOPE WINDSHIELD, TELLS YOU THIS GUY DIDNT SKIMP.
GREAT GLASS MAKES YOU LOOK AT THE PAINT, AND THIS AIRPLANE IS SHARP!!
CREAM OVERALL, WITH A NICE BRIGHT MEDIUM BLUE ACCENT LOOKS MODERN, NOT LIKE A NEW A-36, BUT AN UPDATED SCHEME AND APPEARANCE.
THE PAINT IS NOT FLAWLESS, AS I SAW WHEN I GOT RIGHT UP TO IT (THERE HAVE BEEN TOUCHUPS IN A FEW SPOTS OF THE CREAM, BUT THE COLOR USED WAS SPOT ON, AND THERE IS NO SPATTER OR ORANGE PEEL AS THE AREAS WERE TAPED OFF, NOT JUST FREEHAND.
THE OVERALL LOOK IS GREAT, AND I ONLY MENTION THE FEW TOUCHUP SPOTS FOR YOU SUPER FINICKY TYPES.
CLEVELAND WHEEL AND BRAKE UPGRADE, BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY THIS GUY WANTED IT ALL !!
INSIDE IS ALSO GREAT!!
THE DASH HAS BEEN COMPLETELY UPDATED, WITH CENTER STACK FOR THE AVIONICS, NEW CUSTOM PANELS LEFT AND RIGHT, AND ALL NEW SWITCHES, CIRCUIT BREAKERS, AND GUAGES IN CUSTOM LOWER PANELS LEFT AND RIGHT.
THE TIP TANKS WERE PART OF THE DASH UPGRADE, AS ALL OF THE TANKS, INCLUDING THE TIPS, HAVE THEIR OWN 2 1/4" GUAGE.
THE UPGRADE GOT RID OF THE PIANO KEYS, ADDED REAL, SEPARATED GEAR AND FLAP SWITCHES, AND BASICALLY UPGRADED THE DASH LAYOUT TO BETTER THAN A 1970"s A-36!
THE YOKE IS A NEW XXXXXXXBLACK UNIT, THE HEAVY RAM"S HORN STYLE, WITH CUSTOM BLACK LEATHER COVER AND DIGITAL CHRONOMETER.
THE SEATS ARE AWESOME, 2 -TONE LEATHER IN CREAM AND BLUE, AND THE SIDE PANELS WERE REDONE TO MATCH, AND LOOK GREAT.
THE BLUE CARPET LOOKS NEW, ON THE FLOOR, IN THE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT AND ON THE BACK BULKHEAD.
THE LIGHT CREAM HEADLINER IS NOW A ONE PIECE MOLDED UNIT, NOT STRETCHED FABRIC, AND THE GREY PAINT AROUND THE WINDOW AND DOOR FRAMES WAS REPAINTED TO PERFECTION.
THE REAR SEATS ON A G35 ARE INDIVIDUAL BUCKETS, WITH TRACKS FOR INDIVIDUAL FOR AND AFT ADJUSTMENT, RECLINE, AND EASY REMOVAL, EITHER ONE OR BOTH, FOR MORE CARGO CAPABILITY.
SO THIS AIRPLANE HAS THE P-35 ENGINE AND PROP
MORE FUEL THAN ANY FACTORY BONANZA
BETTER WINDOWS THAN A V-35
SPEED SLOPE WINDSHIELD FOR MORE SPEED AND MORE QUIET
UPDATED DASH, SUPER NICE INTERIOR, COOL YOKE
SO WHAT DOESNT THIS AIRPLANE HAVE?
AN UNDAMAGED TAIL.
SO EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THE BONANZA WAS UPGRADED IN 1957 TO HANDLE THE UPGRADED SPEEDS FROM THE NEW FOR 1957 240 H.P. ENGINE, AND WITH ANTICIPATION OF MORE POWER IN THE YEARS TO FOLLOW.
WHICH MEANS THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS AIRPLANE HAS THE UPGRADED ENGINE, IT DOES NOT HAVE THE HIGHER NEVER EXCEED SPEED OF THE NEWER AIRPLANES.
EVERYONE KNOWS THIS STUFF, RIGHT?
WELL MAYBE NOT EVERYONE.
PART OF THE DASH RETROFIT WAS A NEW AIRSPEED INDICATOR, MARKED IN KNOTS, WITH A NEVER EXCEED TRUE AIRSPEED OF 176 KNOTS.
BUT THIS AIRPLANE HAS A CRUISE SPEED OVER 165 KNOTS, SO THE PILOT HAS TO BE VERY CAREFUL IN DECENT.
THIS AIRPLANE WAS JUST PURCHASED BY A NEW OWNER FROM THE DETAIL ORIENTED GUY WHO DID ALL THESE MODS, AND WAS BEING FLOWN TO THE HOME AIRPORT OF THE NEW OWNER, WHEN THE FERRY PILOT PUSHED OVER TO DECEND TO THE AIRPORT.
IN A SLICK, HIGH PERFORMANCE, UPGRADED AIRPLANE LIKE THIS, (OR MY MOONEY), YOU LEARN TO REDUCE POWER BEFORE YOU PUSH OVER.
HE DIDNT, AND WAS SURPRISED BY A BANG FROM THE TAIL, AFTER WHICH HE REDUCED POWER, AND FEELING NO ADDITIONAL ISSUES, LANDED SAFELY AND TAXIED IN.
IMAGINE THE LOOK ON THE NEW OWNERS FACE WHEN HE SAW WHAT HAD HAPPENED !!
THE TAILCONE IS WRINKLED ON THE SIDE AND BOTTOM AFT SKINS, MORE RIGHT THAN LEFT, AND NONE ON THE VERY TOP SKINS.
THE WRINKLES INCLUDE THE BULKHEAD WHERE THE AFT TAIL SKINS JOIN THE MID TAIL SKINS, AND ONLY THE RIGHT SIDE SKIN HAS A SMALL PUCKER BEYOND THIS.
THE REPAIR THEN WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF THE AFT SKINS AND BULKHEADS, UP TO AND INCLUDING THE MID TAIL BULKHEAD, BUT THE MORE FORWARD PUCKER WILL PROBABLY POP ITSELF BACK INTO PLACE IF YOU REPLACE THE STRINGER IT IS ATTACHED TO, AS IT IS NOT WRINKLED AS SUCH.
AS I HAVE SEEN IN THE PAST, THE TAIL FEATHERS THEMSELVES, BOTH FIXED SURFACES AND BOTH RUDDERVATORS, LOOK GREAT!I LOOKED HARD, AT ALL 4 PIECES, AND CAN SEE NOW WRINKLING WHATSOEVER.
I CHECKED GOOD FOR CORROSION IN THE SURFACES AS WELL, AS I HAD GOOD LIGHT, AND THEY LOOK GOOD (I SOLD A "D" MODEL EARLIER THIS YEAR THAT I LOOKED AT IN BAD LIGHT, WITH LOTS OF DUST ON THE RUDDERVATORS AND MISSED SOME "worm tracks" CORROSION. I GAVE THAT BUYER AN ADJUSTMENT ON THE PRICE, SO NOW I AM EXTRA VIGILANT).
ONLY THE AFT FUSELAGE MIDDLE AND LOWER SHOW WRINKLING, BUT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO BUY INDIVIDUAL SKINS, IT SEEMS LIKE A CUT OFF TAILCONE FROM THE WINDOWS AFT WOULD MAKE THE JOB EASIER.
IF YOU REALLY WANT TO COMPLETE THE TOTAL TRANSFORMATION OF THIS AIRPLANE, I WOULD THINK THIS MIGHT BE THE EASIEST TIME EVER TO ALSO ADD THE BIG 3RD SIDE WINDOWS, BUT MAYBE THAT IS GOING TOO FAR.
I KNOW EVERYONE IS GOING TO ASK ABOUT FERRYING THIS AIRPLANE SO THAT FINAL REPAIRS COULD BE COMPLETED NEAR YOUR HOUSE. I HONESTLY CANT SEE WHY TEMPORARY STRINGERS COULD NOT BE ADDED TO STABILIZE THE TAILCONE FOR A LESS THAN REDLINE FERRY FLIGHT, BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT WE DO, AND THERE IS NO MAINTENANCE SHOP ON THE FIELD, SO YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE YOUR MECHANIC DECIDE ( BEFORE YOU BID ON THE AIRPLANE, NOT AFTER), HOW AND WHERE TO MAKE THE REPAIRS REQUIRED.
LOCATED AT THE BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS AIRPORT, A SLEEPY LITTLE UNCONTROLLED AIRPORT WITH A HUGE 6,000 ft. RUNWAY.
YOU WILL NOTICE THAT SOME OF THE RADIOS AND SOME OF THE INSTRUMENTS ARE MISSING. THESE ARE NOT INCLUDED.
STILL INCLUDED IN THE DASH ARE THE PMA 7000 AUDIO PANEL WITH MARKERS AND INTERCOM AND A PS ENGINEERING CD PLAYER.
WE HAVE ALSO LEFT THE GARMIN TRANSPONDER TRAY AND WIRING INTACT, AND THE WIRING FOR A GARMIN GNS430 INTACT, TO MAKE FERRYING EASIER.
THE STEC 30 AUTOPILOT SYSTEM IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE, BUT EVERYTHING ELSE SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS IS !!!!!!
