1966 CESSNA 150F AIRFRAME, ONLY 2,700 HOURS TTSNEW, RIGHT WING/TAIL DAMAGE, REPAIRABLE, CHEAP!THE 1966 CESSNA 150 IS THE FIRST OF THE “MODERN” 150’SBEFORE 1966, THE 150 WAS NOT MUCH MORE THAN A NOSEWHEEL ADDED TO THE 1940’S VINTAGE CESSNA 140!IN 1966, WITH THE ‘F’ MODEL, LIKE THIS AIRPLANE, THE 150, WHICH WAS TO BECOME THE MOST HIGHLY PRODUCED AND WELL KNOWN TRAINER EVER DESIGNED, WAS CHANGED IN MANY WAYS, BRINGING IT UP TO MOST OF THE FEATURES THAT WOULD SERVE THE AIRPLANE WELL FOR THE NEXT 20 YEARS!THE MODERN FEATURES ON THE ‘F’ INCLUDE:MODERN, SWEPT TAILELECTRIC FLAPSDOORS ENLARGED AND FLATTENED ON THE BOTTOM TO MAKE INGRESS/EGRESS FAR EASIERMODERN INSTRUMENT PANEL, WITH GOOD GAUGE LAYOUT AND CENTER STACK FOR AVIONICSTHIS IS A VERY LOW TIME 150, WITH ONLY 2,700 HOURS TOTAL TIME SINCE NEW!OBVIOUSLY USED AS A PERSONAL AIRPLANE RATHER THAN A FLIGHT SCHOOL BIRD, AS SOME OF THOSE AIRPLANES HAVE 10,000-15,000 HOURS ON THEM!AS YOU CAN SEE, THE TURQUISE BLUE PAINT IS ORIGINAL, AND HAS BEEN POLISHED TO DEATH OVER THE YEARS. NOT A STRUCTURAL ISSUE, BUT NOT GORGEOUS WITH THE EXISTING PAINT.THE INTERIOR IS MUCH BETTER, WITH UPDATED BLUE CLOTH UPHOLSTRY, IN GOOD CONDITION.THIS AIRPLANE SUFFERED A LANDING WHERE THE PILOT WAS OUT OF SORTS, AND THE AIRPLANE PARTIALLY TIPPED ONTO IT’S RIGHT SIDE.THE RESULTING DAMAGE CAN BE SEEN IN 3 PLACES:THE RIGHT WING OUTBOARD, THE RIGHT HORIZONTAL/ELEVATOR AND THE RIGHT OUTER WHEEL HALF.THE REST OF THE AIRFRAME DOES NOT APPEAR TO SHOW DAMAGE FROM THIS INCIDENT.THE RIGHT WING IS DEFINITELY WRINKLED OUTBOARD, FROM PUSHING UP AS IT HIT THE GROUND FLAT, NOT CRUSHING THE LEADING EDGE, AS OFTEN HAPPENS. THERE IS SOME DAMAGE TO THE PLASTIC WINGTIP, BUT THE AILERON IS NOT OBVIOUSLY DAMAGED, AND MAY STILL BE STRAIGHT.THIS WING IS OBVIOUSLY REPAIRABLE, AS THE DAMAGE IS MOSTLY TO THE OUTBOARD 20”, WHICH CESSNA KNEW WOULD OFTEN GET DAMAGED ON A TRAINER, SO THEY MADE THIS SECTION EASY TO REPLACE. THIS WING IS VERY REPAIRABLE!THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HORIZONTAL AND THE RIGHT ELEVATOR ARE BOTH BENT MIDSPAN, AND THESE WOULD BE BETTER AND CHEAPER TO REPLACE RATHER THAN REPAIR.THE RIGHT WHEEL IS CRACKED AT THE OUTER FLANGE, FROM THE AIRPLANE RIDING COCKED, BUT THE INNER HALF IS NOT DAMAGED, AND THE BRAKE ROTOR, BRAKE CALIPER AND GEAR LEG LOOK GOOD AND UNDAMAGED.THE GEARBOX AND THE FUSELAGE SIDE SHOW NO WRINKLING OR DAMAGE.IN FACT THE REST OF THE AIRFRAME, WHICH DIDN’T HAVE ANY IMPACT, HAS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE.THIS INCLUDES THE LEFT WING, FLAP, AILERON AND TIP.THE VERTICAL FIN AND RUDDER ARE UNDAMAGEDTHE LEFT ELEVATOR IS UNDAMAGEDTHE TAILCONE AND AFT FUSELAGE ARE UNDAMAGEDALL OF THE GLASS IS GOODTHE DOORS SHUT WELLTHE LOWER NOSEBOWL HAS A SLIGHT SCRAPE, WHICH APPEARS PRE-EXISTIG, AND IS NOT A STRUCTURAL ISSUE. THE UPPER COWL AND THE REST OF THE LOWER COWL ARE OK.AS YOU CAN SEE, THE ENGINE AND PROP, WHICH WERE DAMAGED HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE MOUNT, AND ALL ITEMS FORWARD OF THE MOUNT ARE NOT INCLUDED.THE MOUNT ITSELF IS UNDAMAGED AND THE ENGINE CONTROL CABLES AND ELECTRICAL WIRES ARE NOT CUT.WHEN WE REMOVED THE ENGINE AND LOOKED CLOSE, WE WERE SURPRISED TO FIND A WRINKLE IN THE LOWER CENTER OF THE FIREALL SKIN. SURPRISED, BECAUSE THIS ARE SUSTAINED NO KNOWN OR OBVIOUS IMPACT DURING THIS EVENT. THE LOWER COWL IS NOT DENTED OR WRINKLED IN THIS AREA, THE LOWER SKIN OF THE BELLY IS NOT WRINKLED, AND THE NOSEGEAR, WHICH ATTACHES TO THE ENGINE MOUNT, NOT THE CENTER LOWER FIREWALL, IS UNDAMAGED.I DON’T KNOW WHEN, HOW OR WHY IT IS WRINKLED, BUT A SMALL PATCH TO THIS SKIN IS A REASONABLE, SAFE AND LEGAL FIX.NOT ONLY IS THIS A LOW TOTAL TIME AIRPLANE, BUT THE RECENT MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN TOP NOTCH!THE LAST THREE ANNUALS, BY A TOP TEXAS SHOP, ARE VERY THOROUGH AND DETAILED, AND SEEM TO BE CATCHING UP ON SOME DEFERRED MAINTENANCE FROM PREVIOUS SHOPS.THE LAST ANNUAL JUST EXPIRED THE END OF MARCH, 2019, SO THIS IS NOT A SITTER OR RAMP QUEEN!!PAPERWORK IS EXTENSIVE, AND INCLUDES LOGBOOKS SINCE NEW, AD LISTINGS, 337’S, WEIGHT AND BALANCE, AND A THICK PACKET OF RECIEPTS FOR YEARS!!AND THE FAA BILL OF SALE, AND THE KEY!!LOCATED ON THE RAMP AT THE KILLEEN TEXAS AIRPORT NEAR SAN ANTONIO.WE WILL PAY THE SMALL TIE-DOWN FEE FOR 30 DAYS FROM THE END OF THE AUCTION.THIS IS A VERY REPAIRABLE AIRPLANE, VERY LOW TOTAL TIME AIRFRAME, WITH DAMAGE ISOLATED TO THE RIGHT SIDE, AND WILL MAKE A GREAT PROJECT, TO FLY, OR TEACH YOUR KIDS/GRANDKIDS TO FLY, OR FIX AND RESELL.THE 100 H.P. 0-200 CONTINENTAL IS THE STANDARD ENGINE IN THE 150, BUT MANY PEOPLE HAVE CONVERTED BY S.T.C.
