1966 CESSNA 150F, NICE LOOKING AIRFRAME, VIRTUALLY NO AIRFRAME DAMAGE, GREAT PROJECT, CHEAP !!
1966 WAS THE YEAR THE 150 ADDED THE MODERN "SWEPT" TAIL, AND WITH THE REAR WINDOW ADDED A COUPLE OF YEARS BEFORE, THE 66 IS THE SAME OVERALL LOOK AS THE LAST OF THE SERIES IN 1977.
THIS 1966 "F" (PRODUCED LATE IN 1965, THEY COULDN"T WAIT TO GET THE "SWEPT TAIL" TO MARKET) HAS SUFFERED THE INDIGNITY OF A NOSE GEAR COLLAPSE
THE NOSE GEAR ON THE 150 IS ATTACHED TO THE TUBULAR ENGINE MOUNT, AND IT IS THIS MOUNT THAT FAILED.
THE NOSE GEAR WAS ALLOWED TO SWING BACKWARD, TO JUST THE POINT WHERE THE NOSE SCISSORS SCRAPED THE BELLY SKINS. THERE IS THE FAINTEST LITTLE HINT OF A DENT IN THE LOWER CENTER OF THE FIREWALL, BUT IT APPEARS THAT IT WILL TAP OUT, AND SHOULD NOT REQUIRE REPLACEMENT, AND THE SAME FOR THE BELLY SKIN.
THE STEERING RODS ARE BENT, AND WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT, AND THE SHIMMY DAMPER BROKE LOOSE FROM IT"S ATTACH POINT AND IS HANGING LOOSE.
THE LOWER COWL IS DENTED, BUT THE UPPER COWL SEEMS FINE.
THERE IS NO UPPER FIREWALL DAMAGE, NOR DAMAGE TO THE FIREWALL AT THE MOUNT ATTACH POINTS.
AND THAT IS ALL OF THE AIRFRAME DAMAGE CAUSED BY THIS INCIDENT !!
ALL OF THE FUSELAGE EXCEPT THE LITTLE CREASE AND SCRAPE UP FRONT IS UNDAMAGED !!
THE MAIN GEAR AND MAIN GEAR BOX ATTACHMENTS ARE FINE
NEITHER WING WAS DAMAGED, UNTIL THE LEFT WING GOT A SMALL DENT AND A CRACKED PLASTIC WINGTIP DURING TRANSPORTATION AFTER THE INCIDENT. VERY MINOR DING, SHOWN !!
THE CONTROL SURFACES ON THE WINGS LOOK GOOD, AS DO THE LIFT STRUTS
THE WINDSHIELD GOT CRACKED IN THE SAME WAY AS THE LEFT WINGTIP, BUT THE REST OF THE GLASS IS OK.
THE TAILCONE AND TAIL FEATHERS ARE INTACT AND OK
INSIDE, THE BLUE CLOTH SEATS ARE OK, BUT ADMITTEDLY NEED RECOVER OR A SEAT COVER
LATE STYLE GYRO INSTRUMENTS IN THE FULL PANEL. THE KING KX-170B NAV-COM IS INCLUDED AS IS THE KING TRANSPONDER TRAY, BUT THE 76A PANEL UNIT WAS REMOVED FOR ANOTHER AIRPLANE AND IS NOT INCLUDED HERE.
THIS AIRPLANE IS NOT A "SITTER" OR ABANDONED RAMP QUEEN. LAST ANNUAL JUST EXPIRED 9/1/2017 !! STORED INSIDE SINCE !!
YOU WILL NOTICE THAT THE PROPELLOR IS NOT ON THE PLANE. IT WAS DAMAGED, OF COURSE, WHEN THE NOSEGEAR FOLDED, AND SO WAS REMOVED, AND IS NOT INCLUDED.
AS IT WAS ALSO DAMAGED, THE 0-200 THAT THIS AIRPLANE CAME EQUIPPED WITH HAS BEEN REMOVED, AND IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS LISTING. IT WAS UNBOLTED FROM THE MOUNT, AND IT AND ALL OF IT"S BOLT ON ACCESSORIES ARE NOT INCLUDED.
USED 0-200 ENGINES ARE OF COURSE READILY AVAILABLE, IN A VARIETY OF CONDITIONS AND PRICE POINTS ON THE OPEN MARKET. AND THE ENGINE MOUNTS TO PUT THIS AIRFRAME BACK RIGHT ARE PLENTIFUL AND CHEAP AS WELL.
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THE CONTROL CABLES, ELECTRICAL LINES, ETC. ARE UNDAMAGED AND INCLUDED. THE ENGINE WAS CAREFULLY UNBOLTED, NOT CUT OUT, WITH PLANS TO REPLACE WITH ANOTHER 0-200, SO THIS WILL BE EASY.
BUT WAIT.
WOULDN"T THIS BARELY HURT AIRPLANE BE A GREAT CANDIDATE FOR A LYCOMING 150 H.P. UPGRADE?
BETTER PERFORMANCE IN EVERY CATEGORY, AS YOU WOULD EXPECT WITH A 50% HORSEPOWER INCREASE WITH ONLY A SMALL WEIGHT INCREASE.
SHORT FIELD TAKEOFFS, GREAT CLIMB, AND EVEN REASONABLE CRUISE SPEEDS !!
THE 150/150 IS A NEAT AIRPLANE !!
