1967 Cessna 172H/180 hp.1967 Cessna 172H with Air Plains 180 h.p. Lycoming 0360 conversion.TTAF – 5600.2TT engine – 427.0(times will change as we currently are still flying it) Wabash Valley Soaring is selling its Cessna 172 tow plane. This is our back-up tow plane and one of our members has offered us use of his Cessna 182 as a back-up, so we no longer need this one.Features:Air Plains 180 h.p. Lycoming O-360 engine conversionAir Plains Gross weight increase to 2500 lbs Flint Aero wingtip auxiliary tanks (12 gallons each tip)Horton STOL flap and aileron gap sealsBAS shoulder harnesses Iceman Aviation Supplies carb ice detection systemAeroflash strobe lights Airwolf air/oil separatorK+L soaring tow hookComplete and well organized logs The good points: This is a very nice flying 172 with many extra features. It has the long range tanks that add 24 more gallons of fuel (for a total of 60 gallons) giving it about a 6 hour endurance at 2500 rpm and 115-120 mph. The useful load is 977 lbs, so you can put 60 gallons of fuel in it and still carry three 200 lb. people. We had the prop re-pitched for climb performance, but if desired, it could be pitched back for cruise performance and more speed. We added the shoulder harnesses as well as the tow hook, which could be used for towing gliders or banners. The logs are complete from the day it left the factory at Wichita (7-3-67). The bad points: Cosmetically, it needs work, both inside and out. The paint has some parts where the clear coat is peeling off and there is some flaking of fiberglass parts. The interior definitely shows it age. The rear window is crazed. The panel/avionics are dated. One of the Aeroflash strobes is inop. The plane is at the Lawrenceville-Vincennes airport (KLWV) and can be inspected there. Send me a note if you are interested so I can make sure one of the club members is there to unlock the hangar. The plane is being sold as-is with no warranties stated or implied.
