1972 CESSNA 182P, ONLY 1993 HOURS TTSNEW ! COMPLETE AIRFRAME WITH NO CRASH DAMAGE, GREAT RESTORATION OR RETROFIT PROJECT !!THE 182P IS ONE OF THE LAST VERSIONS OF THE 0-470 POWERED FOUR SEAT ”FAMILY” AIRPLANE CESSNA CAME OUT WITH IN 1956.THE 182 WAS A TRICYCLE GEAR DIRIVITIVE OF THE 180 TAILDRAGGER WHICH CAME OUT A FEW YEARS BEFORE.THE 182 HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE “STEP UP” CESSNA, FOR THOSE PILOTS WHO LEARNED TO FLY OR GOT A LITTLE TIME UNDER THEIR BELT IN 172’S, THE 182 OFFERED A BIGGER AIRFRAME, WITH MORE OF EVERYTHING!MORE POWER (60-70 MORE HORSEPOWER THAN THE 172MORE SPEED (135 KNOTS CRUISE)MORE ROOM, BIGGER CABIN, BIGGER BAGGAGE AREA, MUCH HIGHER USEFUL LOADBIGGER PANEL, ROOM FOR ALL THE RADIOS YOU COULD WANT. BY THE ‘P’ MODEL, LIKE THIS ONE, CENTER AVIONICS STACK AND WELL LAID OUT 6 PACK GUAGE SETUP.EXCELLENT SHORT FIELD AND SOFT FIELD PERFORMANCE. THE COMBINATION OF MORE POWER, BIGGER FLAPS AND BIGGER WING MAKES THE 182 A REAL GOOD SLOW FLIGHT AIRPLANE.ALL OF THE CHANGES THAT WERE GOING TO BE MADE IN THE CONTINENTAL ENGINED 182 WERE IN PLACE BY THE ‘P’ MODEL, WITH THE ‘Q’ AND ‘R’ DIFFERING ONLY IN WHICH 0-470 230 H.P. ENGINE WOULD BE INSTALLED.THE ‘P’ OFFERS HIGHER GROSS WEIGHT THAN THE EARLIER AIRPLANES, FOR A BETTER USEFUL LOAD, AND ALL OF THE MODERN TOUCHES.THIS AIRPLANE HAS THE PILOT’S ARTICULATING (INFINATE ADJUST) FEATURE, A SPLIT FOLDING REAR SEAT, AND LONG RANGE FUEL TANKS.AND IT’S ONLY GOT 1993 HOURS SINCE BRAND NEW !!THAT MIGHT BE ONE OF THE LOWEST TIME 1970’S 182S IN EXISTENCE !!!IT LIVED IT’S EARLIER LIFE IN TEXAS, AND HAS BEEN BASED AT THE SAME AIRPORT WE ARE FOR THE LAST 23 YEARS !!SERVICED AT THE FBO WE NOW OWN. IT’S KIND OF COOL FOR ME TO LOOK THROUGH THE LOG BOOKS!OF COURSE THE LOGS ARE COMPLETE SINCE DAY ONE, AND CONSECUTIVE. THERE IS ALSO A WHOLE BINDER FULL OF SUPPORTING PAPERWORK.SO THIS WAS A NICE AIRPLANE, NOT A SITTER, ANNUALLED REGULARILY AND RECENTLY, SO WHAT HAPPENED?A BATTERY CHARGER, HOOKED TO THE BATTERY OF ANOTHER AIRPLANE IN THE PRIVATE HANGER, MALFUNCTIONED AND STARTED THAT FIBERGLASS AIRPLANE ON FIRE.ALTHOUGH THE 182 DIDN’T CATCH FIRE, IT WAS SUBJECTED TO HEAT AND SMOKE/SOOT.I GENERAL, PLASTIC MELTED, PLEXIGLASS SAGGED, PAINT BUBBLED, AND IN THE CASE OF THE WING TOP SKINS (CLOSEST TO THE HEAT IN THE CEILING OF THE HANGER, THE ALUMINUM SKINS SAGGED AND EVER SLIGHTLY BUCKLED.THE FUSELAGE ITSELF ONLY SEEMS TO HAVE ANY ALUMINUM BUCKLING ON TWO OF THE UNSUPPORTED SKINS OF THE UPPER TAILCONE, AFT OF THE REAR WINDOW, WHERE YOU CAN SEE AN OIL CAN DENT THE SIZE OF THE REACH OF MY HAND IN TWO OF THE UPPER SKINS.WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THOSE TWO TAILCONE TOP SKINS AND THE WING TOP SKINS, NO OTHER METAL SEEMS TO BE DEFORMED. NO METAL IS MELTED ANYWHERE ON THE AIRPLANE, THIS WAS A SOOTY, SMOOKY FIRE IN A VERY ENCLOSED AREA, SO IT WAS OXYGEN STARVED. THE WOOD-FRAMED HANGER DID NOT COLLAPSE, AGAIN, JUST SOOTY (VERY SOOTY) INSIDE.THIS AIRPLANE WILL OF COURSE REQUIRE A COMPLETE PAINT STRIP, NEW WINDOWS AND NEW PLASTICS.YOU WOULD HAVE DONE THAT ANYWAY, ON YOUR WAY TO MAKING YOURSELF A NICE PLANE THAT YOU WILL BE PROUD TO OWN AND SHOW OFF.THE GREEN INTERIOR AND SEATS MIGHT BE ABLE TO BE CLEANED, AS THEY ARE IN GREAT SHAPE (1993 SNEW AND WELL CARED FOR) EXCEPT FOR THE SMOKE AND SOOT, BUT AGAIN, WERE YOU REALLY GOING TO KEEP THE ORIGINAL GREEN INTERIOR ON YOUR FRESHLY UPDATED AIRPLANE ?THE AFTERMARKET SHOULDER HARNESS ASSEMBLIES ARE JUST FINE.FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS, ENGINE INSTRUMENTS, SWITCHGEAR, ETC. ALL CLEANED UP FINE JUST BY WIPING WITH 409.THE AVIONICS WERE AND ARE A MISMASH, AND I WOULD EXPECT YOU TO REPLACE THEM ALL. SIMPLE FOR VFR AND BACK-COUNTRY WORK, AND HIGH ZOOT IF YOU ARE HARD IFR OR WANT TO SHOW OFF ! ALL OF THE UNITS SHOWN ARE INCLUDED.THE CURRENT TREND IS MORE HORSEPOWER ON THE 182. IF 230 WORKS, 250, 260, 285 OR 300 H.P., IN CARB OR FUEL INJECTED FORM, WORKS EVEN BETTER !!MORE SPEED, SHORTER TAKEOFF, BETTER CLIMB, ETC. IF YOU CAN ONLY HAVE 1 AIRPLANE, AN UP-POWERED 182 MAY BE THE BEST ALL-AROUND AIRPLANE, ESPECIALLY IF ANY OF YOUR FLYING IS OUT OF SHORTER OR SOFTER FIELDS.WE HAVE REMOVED THE ENGINE FROM THIS AIRPLANE AT THE MOUNT, AND THE ENGINE PROP AND ACCESSORIES ARE NOT INCLUDED, SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY FOR A 1993 HOUR ENGINE YOU WON’T USE.THE MOUNT (UNDAMAGED), CABLES AND HOSES (UNDAMAGED) WERE UNBOLTED, NOT CUT, AND ARE INSTALLED AND INCLUDED.IN ADDITION TO THE AIRFRAME LOGS SINCE BRAND NEW, WE ARE INCLUDING THE FAA BILL OF SALE, THE FAA AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE, THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL, AND A BINDER FULL OF 337’S AND OTHER SUPPORTING PAPERWORKAND THE KEYS !!THIS LESS THAN 2,000 HOUR SINCE NEW 182 ‘P’ IS A GREAT RESTORATION/UPGRADE PROJECT.IF YOU ARE JUST THINKING OF USING THIS FINE AIRPLANE FOR PARTS, YOU CAN REST ASSURED.THE FIREWALL, ENGINE MOUNT, LOWER COWL, BOOT COWL, COWL FLAPS, CARRY-TROUGH SPARS, NOSE GEAR AND FITTINGS,MAIN GEAR AND SADDLES EVERYTHING LOWER IN FACT, ARE UNDAMAGED !!THE CONTROL SURFACES DO NOT APPEAR WAVY, AND EVEN THE WINGS JUST NEED TOP SKINS.MINNESOTA IS THE OTHER “LAND OF NO CORROSION”, AT LEAST ON OUR AIRPLANES, AND THIS AIRPLANE, WITH IT’S ORIGINAL INTERIOR IN GREAT SHAPE, HAS ALWAYS BEEN HANGERED.SO YOU COULD USE ALL THAT STUFF TO SAVE MONEY REBUILDING YOUR DAMAGED AIRPLANE IF YOU LIKE.IF THIS DOESN’T WORK OUT AS PROJECT OR DONOR, WE WILL OF COURSE PART IT OUT, BUT THERE ARE VERY FEW LEFT WITH THIS LOW OF A TIME, AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT BACK IN THE AIR.GOOD BIDDING !!
