1973. PIPER ARROW 200, VERY NICE AIRPLANE, 3300 TT, 1175 SMOH, LITE, REPAIRABLE DAMAGE, CHEAP !!
THE ARROW IS A GREAT CROSS-COUNTRY AIRPLANE, PERFECT FOR FAMILIES OR BUSINESS USE.
THE 1973 VERSION LIKE THIS ONE ADDS:

ALL ARROWS, INCLUDING THIS ONE HAVE THE BENEFITS OF:
LARGE REAR BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT WITH LARGE OUTSIDE DOOR AND ACCESSIBILITY TO THE AREA IN FLIGHT
5 HOURS OF FUEL STANDARD
RELIABLE, FUEL INJECTED ENGINE AND CONSTANT SPEED PROP
THE ARROW IS CERTAINLY A GOOD AIRPLANE, BUT AS HOURS USED, TYPE OF USE, AND DEGREE TO WHICH THEY WERE MAINTAINED CAN VERY SO GREATLY, SOME ARROWS ARE MUCH MORE DESIRABLE, AND VALUABLE THAN OTHERS.
I AM AN ARROW GUY. MY DAD WAS AN ARROW GUY. MY DAD HAD ONE WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER, AND I FLEW WITH HIM ALL OVER. THE FIRST COMPANY AIRPLANE WE BOUGHT FOR USE WITH WENTWORTH AIRCRAFT WAS AN ARROW. THE FIRST AIRPLANE I BOUGHT FOR MYSELF WAS AN ARROW. I HAVE SEEN, AND OWNED A LOT OF ARROWS.
THIS IS A NICE ARROW !!
GOOD LOOKING PAINT IN A PLEASING SCHEME AND COLORS
NICE GLASS ALL AROUND
VERY NICE GREY INTERIOR, NICELY UPDATED
TOTAL AIRFRAME TIME IS A VERY LOW 3,300. (75 HOURS A YEAR AVERAGE FOR IT"S ENTIRE LIFE). NOT A TRAINER, JUST A WELL CARED FOR MEMBER OF THE FAMILY
TIME SINCE MAJOR OVERHAUL ON THE LYCOMING IO-360 C1C IS 1175 HOURS.(2000 HOURS RECOMMENDED TIME BETWEEN OVERHAULS)
THIS AIRCRAFT DOES HAVE 2 ISSUES.
1) IT HAS NO RADIOS. MOST ARROWS FROM THE 1970"S STILL HAVE THE OLD KING KX-170B STACK THEY CAME WITH, INCLUDING ADF, THE OLDEST STYLE OF VOR AND GLIDESLOPE INDICATORS KNOWN TO MAN, A DUMB AUDIO PANEL, AND NO INTERCOM.
YOU KNOW YOU IF YOU GET AN AIRPLANE WITH THIS TYPE OF STACK, YOU WILL WANT TO REPLACE IT WITH A MODERN AUDIO PANEL WITH INTERCOM AND MUSIC INPUT, A GARMIN 430 AT LEAST, AND A MODERN TRANSPONDER. WELL YOU WONT HAVE ANY DEINSTALLATION COSTS WITH THIS AIRPLANE, BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS RADIOS ARE ACTUALLY ALREADY GONE !! THE OWNER REMOVED THEM
START WITH A CLEAN SLATE !!
THE 2ND ISSUE IS THAT THIS AIRPLANE HAS DAMAGE !!
THE PILOT OF THIS AIRPLANE REPORTED THAT HIS RIGHT LANDING GEAR DID NOT STAY LOCKED ON TOUCHDOWN. OF COURSE THATS POSSIBLE, BUT IT MAY ALSO BE POSSIBLE THAT HE REMEMBERED TO THROW OUT THE GEAR AT THE LAST MINUTE WHILE FLARING, AND THE LEFT MAIN LOCKED, AND THE NOSE AND THE RIGHT WERE MOSTLY OUT, BUT NOT YET LOCKED.
THE RIGHT MAIN STARTED TO RETRACT INTO THE WELL, WHICH CAUSED
THE AIRPLANE TO PULL OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AS IT WAS SLOWING DOWN, AND THE RIGHT WING LEADING EDGE HIT A RUNWAY LIGHT.
AS THE AIRPLANE SLOWED, THE OUTBOARD RIGHT WING BOTTOM SKIN, JUST INBOARD OF THE TIP TOOK THE WEIGHT, AND THIS SKIN IS DENTED ON THE BOTTOM
ADDITIONALLY, THE MAIN GEAR DOOR ON THE RIGHT SIDE CAME OFF IT"S HINGE, AND THE TIE-DOWN RING CAME OFF, AND MADE A CUT IN 1 LOWER WING SKIN
AS THE NOSE GEAR RETRACTED BACK, THE TWO EXHAUST PIPES WERE DENTED, AND THE LIGHT ALUMINUM EXHAUST TUBE FOR THE OIL COOLER GOT DEFORMED
THE COWLING ITSELF HAS A SLIGHT "DENT" INBOARD OF THAT SPOT, AND A QUARTER SIZED AREA THAT WILL REQUIRE FIBERGLASS REPAIR
THE RIGHT NOSE GEAR DOOR IS MISSING A CHUNK, AND THE LEFT HAS A VERY FINE SCRAPE
THE PROPELLOR HAS BENDS IN BOTH BLADES (YOU REALLY WANT A 3 BLADE ANYWAY, DON"T YOU?
AND THAT IS THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE !!
THERE IS NO BELLY DAMAGE, BECAUSE THE RIGHT MAIN AND NOSE RETRACTED SLOWLY AGAINST THE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE OF THE PUMP, AND NEVER FULLY COLLAPSED !!
THE WING IS OH SO REPAIRABLE, COST EFFECTIVELY !!
THE OUTBOARD UNDERSIDE SKIN THAT IS DENTED IS PART OF THE EXTENSION ADDED TO ARROW WINGS WHEN THE FUSELAGE WAS LENGTHENED . IT IS A SIMPLE SKIN, WITHOUT STRINGERS OR FORMERS OR SPARS !!
EVEN THE LARGER SKIN IS DAMAGED IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY. THE SKIN THAT IS AFFECTED GOES BETWEEN THE FUEL TANK ON ONE SIDE AND ANOTHER SKIN AND RIBS ON THE OTHER, AND THE SPAR ON THE REAR.
THE DAMAGE IS ONLY TO THE ONE SKIN, THERE IS NO APPARENT DAMAGE TO THE TANK, THE OUTBOARD RIB, OR THE SPAR. (YOU CAN SEE INSIDE BECAUSE OF THE TEAR )
AS THE GEAR ON THE ARROW IS HYDRAULIC, THERE IS NO DAMAGE AS A RESULT OF THEM FOLDING UP (UNLIKE A BONANZA, FOR INSTANCE), AND THERE IS NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE
SO THIS AIRPLANE MOSTLY NEEDS THOSE TWO WING SKINS, A PROP, AND A PROP STRIKE INSPECTION ON THE ENGINE
WE ARE SELLING THIS AIRPLANE WITH LOGBOOKS FOR THE AIRFRAME, ENGINE AND PROPELLOR, AS WELL AS THE FAA BILL OF SALE.
LOCATED IN A HANGER AT THE KEWANEE ILLINOIS AIRPORT, 2 1/2 HOURS WEST OF CHICAGO.
WE WILL PAY THE CHEAP HANGER RENT FOR 30 DAYS FROM THE END OF THE AUCTION, AND ANY ADDITIONAL TIME YOU MAY WANT AFTER THAT WILL BE ON YOU.
