THIS IS A 181 ARCHER, THE FIRST YEAR WITH THE TAPER WING (THE EARLIER ARCHERS WERE JUST 180"S WITH A NAME)
THE ARCHER IS THE MOST POPULAR OF THE ENTIRE CHEROKEE LINE, AND THE ONLY CHEROKEE IN PRODUCTION TODAY !!

THIS AIRCRAFT HAS ABSOLUTELY NO AIRFRAME DAMAGE FROM AN INCIDENT LIKE MOST OF OUR AIRPLANES DO !!
THE PILOT HIT A SMALL HOLE WHILE TAXIING IN THE GRASS PARKING AREA OF HIS HOME AIRPORT IN BERLIN, NEW JERSEY, AND BENT BOTH PROP BLADES BACK SLIGHTLY.
AS A RESULT, THE PROP WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT AND THE SUPER LOW TIME FACTORY OVERHAUL ENGINE WILL REQUIRE AN INSPECTION
THAT IS THE ONLY REQUIRED "REPAIR" THIS AIRCRAFT REQUIRES TO FLY, BUT IF YOU ASK ME, IT NEEDS ONE MORE THING.
IT JUST NEEDS SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO GIVE IT SOME LOVE !!
THE FORMER OWNER, OR FORMER MECHANIC, OR SOMEBODY IN THIS AIRPLANES RECENT PAST WAS A "LOVE PRETENDER"
AS I CAME WALKING UP TO THE AIRPLANE YESTERDAY, I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE WAY IT LOOKED.
THE LOWER FUSELAGE IS PAINTED IN A COOL MEDIUM BLUE METALLIC THAT I LIKE, AND I DIDN"T SEE ANY OBVIOUS DAMAGE (BECAUSE THERE ISN"T ANY!)
UNFORTUNATELY, WHEN I GOT RIGHT TO IT, I COULD SEE THAT THE "LOVE PRETENDER" HAD PAINTED THE AIRPLANE, BUT NOT IN A QUALITY WAY.
I HAVE SEEN CARS PAINTED WITH A BRUSH, AND THIS ISN"T THAT BAD, SO IT WAS OBVIOUSLY SPRAYED, BUT EITHER THE PAINT, OR THE SKILL LEVEL OF THE PERSON APPLYING IT (MY GUESS) WAS SUBPAR.

AN OVERALL "NOT SMOOTH" FINISH, WHICH IS WIERD, BECAUSE THE RUNS IMPLY THERE WAS TOO MUCH PAINT APPLIED, BUT THE ROUGHNESS DOESN"T.
ADDING TO THE APPEARANCE ISSUES ARE THAT SOME OF THE FIBERGLASS AND PLASTIC COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED, PRESUMABLY WITH BONDO, AND NOT FINISHED VERY WELL. AND THEN THEY PAINTED OVER THAT, AND IT"S UGLY
OK, I CAN"T SPECIFICALLY SAY IT IS UNAIRWORTHY. I HAVE SEEN SOME AIRPLANE WITH CHIPPING AND PEALING OLDER PAINT THAT HAVE BEEN SIGNED OFF FOR ANNUAL YEAR AFTER YEAR, SO MAYBE THIS ONE IS OK LIKE THIS. BUT IT"S NOT "NICE"
INSIDE, YOU COULD SAY IT IS SIMILARLY "NOT NICE"
THE SEATS ARE OK, BUT NOT GREAT
SOME INTERIOR PLASTIC IS BROKEN
THE CARPET IS EITHER BAD OR NON-EXISTENT
OH, AND THE WINDOWS.
MY GUESS IS THAT THE INEXPERIENCED PERSON WHO PAINTED THE EXTERIOR GOT PAINT STRIPPER ON THE GLASS, OR MAYBE OVERSPRAY WHICH THEY TRIED TO REMOVE, OR OLD MASKING TAPE.
THE END RESULT IS THE WINDOWS ARE UNBROKEN, AND SOMEWHAT SEE-THROUGH, BUT NOT COMPLETELY.
BUT WAIT, IT"S NOT ALL DOOM AND GLOOM !
SINCE THE AIRFRAME ISNT DAMAGED, YOU DON"T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE FIREWALL, COWLINGS, FUSELAGE, TAIL, WINGS AND LANDING GEAR. THEY ARE ALL GOOD !!
THE INSTRUMENTS ALL LOOK OK
THE RADIO STACK IS COMPLETE AND INTACT, INCLUDING:

KING KMA20 AUDIO PANEL/MARKER BEACONS
KING KR-86 ADF SYSTEM

NARCO DIGITAL DME 890
IT"S ALSO GOT A PAIR OF THE COOL VERTICALLY ADJUSTING SEATS
THE AIRPLANE DOESNT SHOW A HAIL PROBLEM AT ALL
WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A LITTLE TWEAK HERE OR THERE FROM USE, THE WINGS, GEAR AND CONTROL SURFACES ARE ALL OK
THE FIREWALL AND FUSELAGE ARE UNDAMAGED, AND SO IS THE TUBULAR ENGINE MOUNT THAT ALSO HOLDS THE UNDAMAGED NOSE GEAR ASSEMBLY.
THE LOW TIME LYCOMING O-360A4M ENGINE LOOKS GOOD, BUT IT DOES HAVE SOME BLUE OVERSPRAY FROM THE "PAINTER". THIS ENGINE HAS ONLY 232 HOURS TIME ELAPSED SINCE A FACTORY PERFORMED OVERHAUL (2,000 HOUR TBO), SO IT WILL ONLY REQUIRE AN INSPECTION, NOT ANOTHER EXPENSIVE OVERHAUL.
WE HAVE INCLUDED PHOTOS OF THE BENT PROP THAT WE RECEIVED SO THAT YOU CAN SEE IT WAS ONLY BENT ON THE TIPS, BUT THE FORMER OWNER KEPT THE PROP AS A SOUVENIR, SO IT IS NOT INCLUDED.
THE SPINNER AND BULKHEADS ARE INCLUDED AND IN THE PLANE.
THE AIRPLANE HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO THE NEWER STYLE FIBERGLASS "FAT PANTS" WHEELPANTS, WHICH DIDN"T EVEN START ON THE ARCHER UNTIL 1979 !!
THE BRACKETS ARE ALL STILL INSTALLED, AND THE MAINS HAVE BEEN PAINTED TO MATCH THE NEW SCHEME, BUT THE PANTS AND FAIRINGS HAVE BEEN REMOVED, PROBABLY DUE TO THE GRASS THE AIRPLANE WAS FORCED TO PARK IN. FAT PANTS MAKE THE AIRPLANE LOOK BETTER, AND THEY MAKE IT GO 4-5 MPH FASTER IN CRUISE, BUT THEY DON"T WORK WELL ON GRASS. WITH THESE PANTS INSTALLED, THE AIRPLANE LOOKS NEWER, MORE FINISHED, AND FASTER.
SO IT"S "SORT OF UGLY" BUT NOT DAMAGED
IF YOU WERE LOOKING FOR AN AIRPLANE TO FIX UP, THIS IS A GREAT CANDIDATE. IT DESERVES BETTER.
SOLD WITH FAA BILL OF SALE, AIRFRAME LOGBOOKS, AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE AND LOTS OF SUPPORTING PAPERWORK.

I WOULD THINK YOU COULD BRING A PROP, CHECK OUT THE ENGINE AND AIRPLANE AND FERRY THIS AIRPLANE OUT OF THE ISOLATED, UNATTENDED LITTLE STRIP IT"S ON (THE TAXIWAY AND RUNWAY ARE GOOD ASPHALT BUT THE PARKING AREA IS GRASS) OR DISASSEMBLE IT EASILY (ONE DAY), AND TRANSPORT IT TO YOUR PLACE. YOU ARE GOING TO WANT TO STRIP THE PAINT OFF THIS THING, AND THAT WOULD BE EVEN EASIER AND TAKE UP LESS SPACE IF IT WAS DISASSEMBLED.
