Make: Glasair
1981 Glasair 2 RG. pilot experienced a loss of power. Pilot put it down in the desert and Managed to walk away. The plane fared not so well. We brought the plane back to Tennessee on the trailer. There is some composite repairs needed, some landing gear repairs to do, and the engine has an issuethat needs to be addressed. The engine turns over but has no compression on two cylinders. It has a squeak when turning it over but has been sitting for a few months so may just have some rust in the cylinders. Last conditional inspection was performed 7/17 so it has not been sitting for an extended period of time.
The engine is a continental io-360 six cylinder with a turbocharger and an inter cooler!! Unheard of In a Glasair. The engine compartment is nice and well constructed. The engine has 970 since major overhaul. The prop has no strike and is ready to go.
The wing has two places of damage that Need to be addressed. Both are about a foot in length and should be easy to repair. There is nothing that we could find in the landing gear attach points. The landing gear itself needs the over center link on one side and the over center stud welded on the other. The landing gear doors will require some repairs as well. The nose gear will need some repair as well as a tube in the engine mount replaced as it has the nose gear in a bind.
There is some superficial repairs needed on the ventral fin and an elevator.
The canopy is a really neat flip up canopy that I"ve never seen on a Glasair.
We have tried to describe the damage as best we could but may have overlooked some small details
The radios are being removed for another plane but the stec autopilot will be included for an additional 2000 dollars. The head for the nav, as well as trays, will be removed. All other instrumentation remains with the plane.
I REPEAT, THE STEC TWO AXIS AUTOPILOT WITH ALTITUDE HOLD WILL BE INCLUDED FOR AN ADDITIONAL 2000$
I have the certificate of airworthiness, logs, and an faa bill of sale.
