I have owned this airplane for seven years and have flown it about 700 hours. It is a reliable old friend.

I have always spent the money to have good maintenance.

One of the first trips I made in a previous Cessna 310 was to TAS Aviation in Defiance, “Ohio. I arrived in the morning and left the next day with the landing gear totally rigged and rebuilt. (a pile of removed parts that cost more than the labor) This was for preventative maintenance. The most common reason for a Cessna Twin to be totaled is because of lack of gear maintenance. Over one third of the Cessna 310’s lost are because of landing gear failure.

It proved to be a Seminal moment. It led to a long relationship with a shop that works on 200 twin Cessna’s a year. For example, there is a bolt in the landing gear that gets bent and worn, there is no AD, there is no Service bulletin on it. But Tony, as matter of practice, replaces it at 500 hours in use. And when you see it, you are glad it has been replaced.
If you don’t buy my plane and are looking at a Twin Cessna, have the plane put up on jacks and put the landing gear half way up. Then move the nose gear fore and aft. You are checking the bell crank that holds up the nose gear. It is hidden away under the pilots feet and is not normally serviced; they are often bad.
When I strap myself into an airplane, I want it to get me there in one piece and without mechanical failure. I often will shoot an approach to a reported 100 sky obscured and ½ mile visibility, I need to be able to rely on the airplane. If I am going to Key West Florida and am flying 90 miles over the Gulf of Mexico, I need to be able to rely on the airplane. If I put family and friends into the airplane, I am responsible for their lives, I need to be able to rely on the airplane.

This airplane has served me well. It has been reliable, it completes it trips. It is now available for sale.
It was actually a trip back from Key West that led me to buy a pressurized Twin, I was in a Cessna 310; We were coming up the coast and In the vicinity of PXT ( Patuxent River ) there was freezing rain near the ground. And ice in the clouds to 20,000 feet. Above 20,000 feet the weather was clear. With a pressurized airplane I could have flown home instead of driving from RDU. Seven years ago I bought this Cessna 340A

If I cannot get a price that reflects the condition of this airplane, I do not need to sell it.
If you want to buy a Cessna 340 for a cheap price, you can, they are out there. Often the price is in the high Seventy thousand range. If price is your goal, stop now. don’t waste your time reading. This airplane is priced based on the maintenance value. When you buy a Cessna 340, you are not buying a $125,000 airplane you are buying a used $2,400,000 airplane. Much as if you had bought a used Mercedes for a $1,000. It is not a $1,000 car. It is a used $60,000 car. This airplane is maintained at new plane standards. In a similar manner if you have a Beech Bonanza and take it to Beechcraft for an annual; it will be maintained as if it was a new airplane.

If you want an airplane that has been maintained to very high standards, READ ON.

If you want perfect paint, stop here, READ NO FARTHER.

If you want leather seats, stop here, READ NO FARTHER

if you want all glass panel, stop here, READ NO FARTHER

The interior is about a 7; It is used serviceable, original.

The exterior is a 6 and is original 1976 paint.

The panal has an HSI, Garmin 530 WASS, and a full complement of steam gauges and Copilot instruments.

The electric air conditioning is an added plus; you can have the airplane cooling before you start up; plug in the GPU and turn the system on.

So often a person purchases a twin airplane and takes it to the paint shop, interior shop and then the radio shop. Easily spending over $120,000.

When they go in for repairs or annual they discover that there is extensive work required and they say “hey, I just spent $120,000 on the airplane and now you want $90,000 to do and annual and fix the faults”

that is not the this airplane;

it has good bones and is well maintained. You know up front that you have a solid basis for whatever improvements you might want.

Copies of the extensive annuals are available upon request.
The annual has just been completed, July 2014.
If you end up getting this plane for the starting price, you are getting a very reliable, well maintained airplane at a price below what you could replicate it.
the airplane is presently in TEB
