Looking to sell a very nice condition 2010 Redbird FMX/cl full-motion flight simulator.
This is classified as AATD (Advanced Aviation Training Device) and can be used towards VFR and IFR training.
This is the FMX/cl (control loading) model listed on Redbird"s website for $73295.The additional 172S configuration panel (one is included with a new FMX/cl) sells for about $5200.If you buy a new FMX/cl Redbird will charge you approximately another $8000 for shipping and installation. So that"s about $86495...plus sales tax if you buy new. If you buy this one you can ship and install yourself for much less money and skip the sales tax (depending on your use of the sim).
The only significant difference between this simulator and a new FMX/cl is the main computer, as the new sims use a faster PC running windows 7 and a different flight software than this one. You can buy the new PC upgrade for about $6000 from Redbird.
Ths sim has about 1550 hours run-time since new and includes:
- FMX motion platform.- Main computer and cables.
- Force-feedback control loading yoke.
- Cessna 172S G1000 configuration panel (with KAP-140 autopilot).
- Cessna 172S analog w/ Garmin 530/430 configuration panel (with KAP-140 autopilot).
- Spare video card.
The flight parameters (airport location, weather, etc) can be adjusted remotely via Ethernet connections to an external PC or laptop/tablet inside the cabin, so that a flight instructor can sit with the student while making adjustments. There is an intercom inside the cabin for headsets, which could be routed externally to speak with a remote instructor in lieu of one in the cabin.
The simulator is located at Advanced Flyers in Palo Alto, CA.Transportating it would require dis-assembly and packing (estimated 2-3 days), after which it can be moved using a small rental truck or shipped internationally from the port of San Francisco. The buyer can re-assemble the sim directly or pay Redbird Flight Simulations for assistance.
The simulator requires a level and solid floor and approximately 16ft x 16ft area (but it can work with less). Power requires an ordinary 120 volt 15 amp electrical socket, typical of homes or offices.
Although this simulator is intended for part FAA part 61 or 141 flight training, the sim can also be used in a home garage for fun, as some people have been known to do.
