“Partially restored RC-3 Seabee in good condition and ready to go on a trailer for the right buyer.”
Model Year: 1947 RC-3: Seabee
Make: Republic
This classic Republic RC-3 Seabee amphibious aircraft was manufactured in 1947 and has a bright future for the right buyer. This 4-seat RC-3 is serial #606, with an empty weight of 2190 lbs, carries a payload of 960 lbs, and has an approved gross weight of 3150. It has a length of 27"10 3/4", a wing span of 37"8", and fully loaded draft of 18". The engine is the original Franklin 215 hp model 6A8-215-B9F 1947 engine, and was owned and operated in the freshwaters of upstate NY for nearly it"s entire lifespan. Currently, the aircraft is stored in a warehouse in south Florida where it was being restored. Local pick-up only, but wings and floats were taken off for restoration (completed), so the entire aircraft can be easily loaded onto an appropriate flatbed trailer. The engine was last operated ~8-10 years ago prior to when hull restoration began. Custom-milled aluminum engine parts (~$1500 value) ordered during restoration are included in the sale. A new RG-14724 valve cover gasket set is included. Wings, floats, ailerons, and the engine cowling was stripped, sanded, and painted. Struts were remanufactured and are in the box. Interior upholstery needs restoration, but the pilot seats may be adequate if cleaned and conditioned. Tires are flat as can be seen from the photos. Propeller was manufactured by Hartzell Propeller, Inc. and has been serviced by Aviation Propellers, Inc. in Opa Locka, FL. Propeller original hours 4,000 (not on this aircraft), but was purchased for use on this aircraft and completely overhauled (paperwork included). Logged hours since overhaul are 0. This is propeller model HC-D2MV20-3, blade model LMV8433, hub serial number AVA373, and current serial number A94022R. Radio was manufactured by Hallicrafters and is model CA-4, but condition of the radio is unknown. A printed Republic Aviation parts and flight specifications manual is included. Registration is current through February 28, 2019. Aircraft flight logs (2), engine log (1), and the propeller log (1) is included in the sale. The Seabee was being restored to start a concierge flight service to the Bahamas, but was put into storage when the owner fell ill and has been in storage since his death. This is an estate sale, but a reasonable price is expected for this restoration Seabee. SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY. THE PRICE YOU BID IS THE PRICE YOU PAY. A deposit of $500 paid via PayPal is REQUIRED within 24 hours of auction close. Electronic funds transfer or in-person cash transferred at a Miami PNC bank is required within 7 days of auction close. Failure to pay will be reported to EBay"s Resolution Center and your account will be flagged for an unpaid item.
I am currently on crutches and am not inclined to show the Seabee prior to sale. The photos and description are accurate to the best of my abilities, and I reply to inquiries by potential buyers quickly. After the $500 deposit is deposited to PayPal, I will show the Seabee in person and assist with pick-up from the private warehouse where it is stored.
