THE 1962 310G IS THE 1ST YEAR FOR A WHOLE BUNCH OF "MODERN" AIRFRAME FEATURES, WE TAKE FOR GRANTED IN NEWER 310"S, BUT NOT ON "OLDER" MODELS
THE "G" MODEL IS THE FIRST 6 PLACE 310 !! WITH AN INCREASE IN ALLOWABLE GROSS WEIGHT, 2 SEATS WERE ADDED IN THE FAR BACK, WITH A SPACE BETWEEN THE NEW FOR 1962 2ND ROW BUCKETS TO ACCESS THEM !!
THE SEATS AND INTERIOR ON THIS AIRPLANE ARE NICE, WITH CLOTH AND VINYL UPHOLSTERY IN GREAT CONDITION !
OUTSIDE, THIS AIRPLANE HAS THE ANGLED "STABILA-TIP" TIP TANKS. LOOKS SO MUCH NEWER THAN THE TUNA TANKS OF THE 1961 AND OLDER PLANES.
LONG, POINTY NOSE IN PLACE OF THE EARLIER ROUNDED, SNUB NOSE.
3RD SIDE WINDOW LENGTHENS AND THINS THE FUSELAGE VISUALLY, AND ADDS LOTS OF LIGHT AND VISIBILITY FOR ALL 6 PASSENGERS
THE ONE PIECE WINDSHIELD, WHICH ELIMINATES THE OLD CENTER BAR, LOOKS BETTER AND IS MUCH BETTER FOR GOOD FORWARD VISIBILITY. IT WASN"T SUPPLIED UNTIL THE LATER 1960"S BY THE FACTORY, BUT THIS AIRPLANE HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH THE ONE-PIECE.
ALL OF THE WINDOW GLASS ON THIS AIRPLANE IS THE MODERN GREY TINT, NOT GREEN, AND IT IS ALL IN FANTASTIC SHAPE !!
OF COURSE THE MOST STRIKING PART OF THIS AIRPLANE IS THE PAINT !!
THE BRIGHT RED LOWER WITH BRITE RED STROBE STRIPES LOOKS GREAT ON THIS AIRPLANE, AND IS IN FANTASTIC CONDITION !! NOT ALL CHIPPED UP OR NICKED UP, AND WITH FANTASTIC SHINE !! IT IS AN AWESOME LOOKING PLANE !!
THE DASH HAS BEEN UPDATED TO A MODERN 6 PACK AND CENTER STACK FOR AVIONICS, VERY CLEAN LAYOUT AND IN FANTASTIC SHAPE, AS ARE THE INSTRUMENTS AND THE YOKES. VERY VERY NICE INSIDE OVERALL
THIS AIRPLANE WAS OWNED BY A HIGH END CORPORATE PILOT, AND HIS WIFE LOVED TO FLY IN THIS AIRPLANE, BECAUSE IT WAS IN SUCH NICE CONDITION, SO THEY WERE BOTH PROUD OF IT !!
THE LEFT CONTINENTAL IO-470 HAS 910 HOURS SINCE MAJOR OVERHAUL
THE RIGHT HAS ONLY 210 !!
BOTH PROPS HAVE LESS THAN 30 HOURS SINCE OVERHAUL !!
AS YOU CAN SEE, THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO EITHER PROP OR EITHER ENGINE.
THE RIGHT BRAKE FAILED ON LANDING ROLL-OUT, AND THE AIRPLANE SWERVED OFF THE RUNWAY AND ROLLED PARTIALLY UP A BERM, ON ITS GEAR. NOTHING WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO THE AIRPLANE AT ALL EXCEPT THAT THE ANGLE OF THE AIRPLANE ON THE HILL ALLOWED THE LEFT HORIZONTAL TO TOUCH THE GROUND !!
THERE IS A WRINKLE IN THE OUTBOARD PART OF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HORIZONTAL. THE LEFT ELEVATOR HAS WHAT MAY BE A DEFORMATION NEAR THE OUTBOARD HINGE. I DIDN"T THINK THE ELEVATOR WAS HURT WHEN I WAS THERE, BUT MY PHOTO SEEMS TO SHOW A DING, SO I WANT TO WARN YOU ABOUT THE WORST CASE. THE RIGHT ELEVATOR IS OK, BUT THE RIGHT TRIM TAB WAS BENT BY A HELPFUL PASSERBY WHO DIDN"T KNOW HOW TO HELP.
THERE IS A VERY FAINT WHISPER OF A WRINKLE TO THE AFT TAILCONE UPPER SKIN. YOU HAVE TO LOOK FOR IT, AND IF YOU WERE NOT LOOKING, I DON"T THINK YOU WOULD CARE. THE FIBERGLASS TAILCONE FAIRING WAS REMOVED FOR INSPECTION, BUT IT IS OK AND INCLUDED.
THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANY FURTHER DAMAGE TO THIS AIRPLANE AS A RESULT OF THIS "OFF-ROAD" EXCURSION.
SO THIS IS A 6 PLACE, 210-220 MPH AIRPLANE. THIS PLANE HAS THE OPTIONAL AUX TANKS IN THE WINGS, WHICH GIVES 65 GALLONS PER SIDE, FOR 5 HOUR ENDURANCE !!
FUEL INJECTION FOR BETTER ENGINE EFFICIENCY
EQUIPPED WITH AN EGT/CHT SCANNER SO YOU KNOW HOW YOU ARE DOING
CESSNA NAVOMATIC 300 AUTOPILOT WITH ALTITUDE HOLD IS INSTALLED AND INCLUDED!
YOU WILL NOTICE THAT THE CENTER AVIONICS STACK IS BLOCKED OFF. THE GARMIN RADIOS WHICH HAD BEEN INSTALLED ARE NOT INCLUDED HERE. I REGULARLY REMOVE THE AVIONICS FROM MY PROJECT AIRPLANES SO THAT YOU DON"T HAVE TO PAY FOR WHAT THE PREVIOUS GUY WANTED, YOU CAN CHOOSE YOURSELF. AND I USUALLY CUT THE CONNECTORS OUT WHEN I DO IT.
WHEN I GOT TO THIS AIRPLANE, I JUST COULDN"T DO IT ! IT"S TOO NICE !! AND THE EASY, BOLT-ON NATURE OF THE REPAIR MEANS THIS AIRPLANE SHOULD BE REPAIRED AND FLOWN OUT, NOT DISASSEMBLED AND TRUCKED !!
SO I LEFT THE CONNECTORS INSTALLED AND WIRED FOR A GARMIN GPS COMM, A GARMIN AUDIO PANEL, A GARMIN TRANSPONDER, AND A GNS-430. ANTENNAS ARE STILL INSTALLED AS WELL. BUY THE UNITS ON THE OPEN MARKET, FROM US OR OTHERS, NOW OR IN THE FUTURE, AND RE-INSTALL WITHOUT ANY WIRING !!
SO NOW YOU DON"T REALLY HAVE A GOOD EXCUSE, DO YOU ?
