COMPLETE STRIP AND PAINT IN JET-GLO POLYURETHANE BY MAJOR SHOP IN 2010 !!
ALLOVER WHITE WITH DARK METALLIC BLUE AND GOLD ACCENT STRIPES. LOOKS GREAT !!
INTERIOR IS GREY VINYL WITH NAVY BLUE INSERTS ON SEATS AND SIDE PANELS.
NEW CARPET, SEAT AND SIDE PANELS AND PLASTICS FRESHENED 4/2015 LOOKS GREAT !!
EXTENDED BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT, PLASTICS AND CARPET LOOK GREAT
BOTH FRONT BUCKETS HAVE THE DESIRABLE "INFINITE ADJUST" FEATURE, WITH 2 HANDLES TO ADJUST THE BACKREST ANGLE AND HEIGHT OF EITHER SEAT, SO EVERY SIZE PILOT AND CO-PILOT CAN GET A COMFORTABLE VIEW !!
THE "N" MODEL 172 IS WHAT WE OLD TIMERS USED TO CALL A "LATE MODEL" SKYHAWK. VIRTUALLY ALL OF THE UPGRADES AND IMPROVEMENTS THAT CESSNA THOUGHT UP OVER 25 YEARS OF PRODUCING THE MOST POPULAR 4 PLACE AIRPLANE EVER ARE FOUND IN THE 172N.
EXCEPT ONE THING.
NOBODY LIKED THE 0-320H2AD ENGINE !!
LYCOMING"S 160 H.P. "BETTER IDEA" ENGINE WAS NOT A BETTER IDEA !
FROM THE BEGINNING THERE WERE PROBLEMS, AND THEY ONLY GOT WORSE OVER TIME.
MOST PEOPLE THAT COULD UPGRADED TO THE FOLLOW-ON 0-320D2J, AND I HAVE EVEN HAD AIRPLANES THAT DOWNGRADED TO 150 H.P. JUST TO GET AWAY FROM THIS ENGINE, SO NO ONE WILL PROBABLY SHED A TEAR TO FIND OUT THAT THE PROP STRIKE H2AD IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS AIRFRAME SALE.
YOU CAN STILL UPGRADE TO THE D2J, WHICH IS THE SAME 160 H.P., BUT MOST PEOPLE DON"T ANYMORE, BECAUSE IT TURNS OUT THAT THE 0-360, 180 H.P. ENGINE BOLTS RIGHT UP TO THE ENGINE MOUNT !!
ALTHOUGH SLIGHTLY HEAVIER, IT PRODUCES NOTICEABLE GAINS IN CLIMB AND CRUISE SPEED, AND A CLEAR REDUCTION IN TAKE-OFF ROLL. EVERYBODY THAT CAN SHOULD UPDATE THIER 172 TO 180 H.P.
SAY A NICE 172N LIKE THIS ONE.
SIT DOWN, SO THIS DOESNT SURPRISE YOU , BUT THIS PRETTY PLANE HAS 23,000 HOURS TOTAL TIME !!
WE HAVE THE LOGS SINCE DAY ONE, FEBRUARY 1979, AND THERE ARE NO GAPS. IN FACT, EXCEPT FOR THE FIRST FEW YEARS, ALMOST ALL OF THE MAINTAINENCE ON THIS PLANE HAS BEEN AT THE SAME AIRPORT, AND B THE SAME COUPLE OF GUYS !!
NICE DETAILED ENTRIES, AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL IS APPARENT.
THE FACT THAT THEY JUST SPENT THE MONEY ON A STRIP AND PAINT AND A NEW INTERIOR SHOULD TELL YOU HOW THEY FELT ABOUT THE AIRPLANE.
LOOK AT THE PHOTOS WE TOOK. NOTICE THE AIRPLANE ISNT ALL PATCHED UP AND TACKY?
CLUB OWNED, NOT A FLIGHT SCHOOL, SO THEY WERE NOT TRYING TO SCRAPE BY
IF SOMETHING NEEDED REPAIR, THEY DID IT RIGHT, NO SKIMPING !!
UNFORTUNATELY, THE MECHANICS WERE NOT DOING THE FLYING.
A LOW TIME PILOT LANDED HARD ON THE NOSEWHEEL, WHICH FORCED THE UPPER NOSE GEAR ATTACHMENT POINT UP.
YOU CAN SEE THE WRINKLE ON THE CENTER FIREWALL TUNNEL SKIN AND THE LEFT UPPER SIDE SKIN.
THERE ARE ALSO SMALL RESULTING WRINKLES IN THE BELLY FLOOR SKINS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF THE CENTER CONSOLE (SHOWN)
THAT DAMAGE, ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT SLIGHT, IS THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE TO THIS AIRPLANE !!
NO DAMAGE TO THE UPPER OR LOWER COWLING. THE COWLING IS THE DESIRABLE DOUBLE HEADLIGHT MODEL
NO DAMAGE TO THE UPPER BOOTCOWL, WINDSHIELD POSTS , DOOR FRAMES, WING CARRY THROUGH SPARS, AFT CABIN OR TAILCONE
NO DAMAGE TO EITHER WING, TIP, FLAP OR AILERON
NO DAMAGE TO EITHER LIFT STRUT OR STRUT ATTACH POINT
ALL 3 WHEEL PANTS ARE INTACT !1
NO DAMAGE TO THE TAIL FEATHERS
