You are bidding on a 1979 Mooney 201 that landed long after Pilot switched to an empty tank. the plane received some damage that seems worse than it is. First let me give you the specs on the plane and then we will talk damage. As you know the mooney line of aircraft are the best way( in my opinion) to go fast on a little bit of gas. You can haul four people for 600 miles with no problem and do it burning ten gallons an hour at 155 knots. the maintenance on a 201 is not very high as it is a fairly simple plane. it has the bulletproof Lycoming IO-360 engine which is very dependable.

paint looked good at the time of the accident, but will need to be touched up after repairs.
the outboard two and half feet of the tip of the left hand sustained some serious damage. luckily mooney has a splice in the spar shortly inboard of the damage. we have done this repair numerous times in the past. it requires drilling the skin off and replacing the outboard section. the replacement section comes with the plane. again, the replacement section is included in the sale. the one skin will need to purchased where the wing gets spliced together. I have a quote from my sheet metal guy to do all of the sheet metal repairs for 3500. he lives approximately 80 miles away and I will deliver it to his shop free of charge.the other damage to the plane is the leading edge inboard of the landing gear needs a flush patch, and the very outboard skin needs replaced, this skin is very small and is inexpensive from mooney. these repairs are included in the sheet metal guys repair price. you will need to supply the skin. he just did the same leading edge repair to another 201 for me and you cant even tell where it was done. will also need a couple of gear doors repaired or replaced. the nose gear donuts that are causing the problem for the nose gear have already been replaced, and it is fully functional
the plane will require a replacement prop.
cowling is complete and undamaged
have the log books and associated paperwork.
I have represented the plane the best I can based upon 30 years of experienced but I am not infallible. I may have missed something but I hope not!!

if you are looking to get into a 201 reasonable and don"t mind doing a little repair work yourself this is the way to go. I would finish it myself but already have four projects going and it is just me by myself. it is currently disassembled on a trailer at my place here in Morristown Tennessee. I can deliver it for a fee but lets talk before the close of auction. you are welcome to come look but please do so before the close of the auction. if you need to see pictures of some particular part of the plane let me know and I will get them for you. the plane was taken apart correctly. I have been taking them apart and putting them together for years and nothing was cut to get it apart. I can help you put the tail cone and tail back up in place so you don"t feel quite so overwhelmed if I bring it to you but will not be able to complete the job.
