This aircraft sustained wing damage when it ran off the runway on landing. It hit several objects. Both wing tips were damaged, the right more than the left. The right aileron was damaged but a replacement aileron is included in this project-ready plane. The flaps were NOT damaged. Repairs are started on the wing: the right side skins and ribs have been replaced, but the top side has not been riveted. The left side two outboard skins are included but not yet installed.
The landing gear did NOT collapse. The spinner and prop need to be replaced. The rudder, horizontal, and elevators are all undamaged. The lightly damaged cowling has been repaired. The forward edge of the main gear doors have slight bends and should be easily repaired.
AVIONICS:
The airplane has a KING KNS-80 and KMA-24, four place intercom, M800 digital clock/timer, Insight Gem 602 6 cylinder digital EGT/CHT scanner, Davtrol digital OAT 5 function indicator, and Electric pitch trim, are intact and in place. Other avionics were substandard for this aircraft and were removed by previous owner.
INTERIOR, PAINT AND GLASS:
The blue cloth interior and side panels are in very good condition. I had planned on installing a new leather interior. The paint is in great shape and can be used as is with touch up. The ship can be easily repainted before assembly for a customized, one-of-a-kind, personal transport. The glass is in excellent shape.
Here’s a little history on the model itself:
1980 Mooney “Missile,” M20J w/Rocket IO-550 Conversion Project. This aircraft started as a Mooney M20J 201 and was modified by Rocket Engineering of Spokane, WA to be an Ovation-like 300 HP high performance screamer. The 200 HP Lycoming engine was upgraded with a 300 HP IO-550 Continental. The 12 V battery in the nose was upgraded with a 24 Volt that was relocated to the aft fuselage. The fuel tanks were upgraded to 102 gallons a bigger load than the Ovation. Speed brakes were added for high-rate descent from altitude. Ovation-type extra gear doors were also added.
Will consider trade for a Cessna.
