“Flew several times this past summer to work out bugs. New canopy makes it quiet and comfortable!”
Make: Kolb Model Year: 1998
This Firestar flies great as I purchased it earlier this summer and flew it several times around the airfield and once cross country. I am including a new canopy, Sporty"s SP200 Communications Radio with two battery packs, push to talk link to David Clark Headset (included) and your own personal hanger at a central Massachusettes airport. Fees are a very reasonable $35.00/month. It has a current BRS parachute installed. I made a lightweight aluminum stand to hold the wings steady (wings must be folded to fit in hanger). They claim ten minutes to set it up for flight but I found it always took me at least 20 minutes and really half an hour if you include pre-flight. There are numerous extras that I am throwing in but that you will find useful. One of them being a GPS Map 196 for pilots so you won"t get lost up there. I have included an extra fuel tank which is installed but not hooked up yet. It will extend your range to at least three hours. I also added an electric fuel pump in series with the stock manifold one just to be on the safe side. Also it primes the fuel mix quickly as opposed to manual prime. Comes with a Rotax 477 engine with a total time of around 50 hours and a Tennessee 66" prop. Stitz fabric is in good shape although the narrow 3" strip between wing and ailerons should be re-taped. Chrome alloy frame is solid and all mechanicals in great shape. Please remember that this is an experimental aircraft and you are responsible for getting it checked out and ready for flight. This is fun and easy to fly but you will need training before you take to the skies. We have an excellent trainer on site that charges 50/hour for dual instruction although it may be Spring before he will instruct new students. There are two other Kolb pilots that fly in regularly and are more than happy to give you pointers. I would advise you to join Silver Wings Flying Club right there at the airport. If you are out of the area or wish to keep it somewhere other than where it is it will be your responsibility to move it/fly it out. Also I will deduct a thousand dollars if you have no use for the hanger as I would rather keep it anyway.
