Item specifics

This is a Buckeye Dream Machine with the Rotax 582 two-stroke two-cylinder engine. My dad decided to have a mid-life crisis some years ago and the choice came down to this or a young girlfriend. He (thankfully) decided that a powered parachute was cheaper than the eventual divorce and spent a couple of years flying "Izzy" on the weekends. Unfortunately, he got sick and was unable to continue flying, so this has been taking up space in the garage since then.
I"ve finally gotten the go-ahead to sell it and dad hopes that someone else can enjoy what he claims is the second most fun way to spend an afternoon with your wife.
The unit starts easily and runs, but I would recommend that you have it inspected before you slip the surly bonds of Earth and climb into the clouds. An Apco Power Wing 500 parachute with 375 kg payload is included. Also includes an upgraded fuel tank (10 gallons I believe), altimeter, water and exhaust gas temp gauges, hour meter and strobe. Seat converts to allow for two passengers or one.
Send me a message if you have questions or would like to arrange a time to take a look at it in person. Located in Keysville, Virginia, 23947.I"ve put together a short video including starting up and revving the Rotax as well as a walk around the chute. At this moment, we"re not 100% sure how many hour are on the motor, as there appears to be a loose wire between the motor and tachometer/hour meter. Temp gauges work (water and one each for each cylinder) Dad is confident that it had less than 50 hours on it when he bought it and he added another 30 or 40 in the couple of years he was flying. So we"re thinking less than 100, but I"ll do my best to verify that before the auction ends.To answer some of your questions:
The chute was stored in a bag when it wasn"t in use and a close look (see the video) did not reveal any broken lines or holes. There was a gentle breeze and we managed to get the chute inflated. The fabric is in much better shape than I expected, it having been in storage so long. There are stick-on letters from the previous owner advertising "Cutting Edge Airsports Inc." along with a phone number. It appears that they would come off with relative ease.
The motor is a pull start. Prior to this week, it was last run in the early to mid-2000"s, although dad may have snuck into the shop to fire it up from time to time for old time"s sake. The oil and fuel lines were replaced this week in order to verify that it ran. I installed new NGK spark plugs as called for in the manual.
Dad bought this sometime in 1999 or 2000 and flew for about two years off and on. I included a clip in the video of the single/two place seat and how that works. The passenger sits behind and above the pilot. There is an additional throttle input for the passenger/instructor, but that is currently not hooked to the motor. I also noticed today that there is a stopper missing for the overflow tank on the radiator. There"s a hose there and the cooling functions as designed, but the lack of a stopper around the hose allows coolant to splash out. Should be a cheap fix.
