“Master Craftsmanship”
Make: Curtiss Hawk Model Year: 1935
Up for sale or trade is my Father-in-Laws handmade 3/4 scale 1930"s era Curtiss Hawk P-6E biplane.  He is a master craftsman in the automotive and aircraft field, a land speed record holder at Bonneville (231mph in a handmade Studebaker in 1961).  This plane was his life"s passion project for the last 30 years.   It is all aluminum, no fiberglass, construction with a 24" wingspan, covered and painted with the famous Snow Owl (see pics). He used an all aluminum Olds 265"ci block (1961-63 era) with custom intake, headers and exhaust with a Bendix carb, Corvair oil cooler and other superior details.  Total unit weighs approx 1300lbs and will have approx 185hp with the all aluminum setup. Plane can be sold with or without this engine.  Buyer wanting to complete this lightweight, high performance build will need to have a reduction gear fabricated to mate to the Olds engine and a new prop.  Then, install the custom made accessory case (see pics) and connect oil, water and fuel pumps.  Buyer wanting to go cheap and easier can swap out for a Small Block Chevy crate motor. Plane comes with no paperwork so buyer can register as a home build under his direction/maint and begin logging without restriction.   The original model was build in the early 30"s for the US Army Air Corps and only 1 of them remains in existence.   Shipping and transport is the buyer"s responsibility.   Thanks for looking.  Feel free to contact me with questions.
