Make: Fairchild Model Year: 1946
1946 Fairchild 24R-46 Project1497 TT579 SMOHAeromatic prop installed 08/31/48 at approximately 100 TT on the airframe.
I have a 1946 Fairchild 24R-46 airplane for sale with no reserve. I have known the airplane and prior owner for probably 30 years or more. The airplane is complete and has been in the same hanger since 1988. I have the log books from the test flight to the present. No missing logs. The last annual was on 03/01/88. After the annual inspection the owner was flying it when he had a bird strike on the right wing. It damaged the leading edge and broke some nose ribs. The owner was an I.A.. He found that it had also damaged the last 2 feet of the spar by cracking it horizontally. He has properly fixed the spar by scarfing in a new section on the tip. I have new wood veneer for the leading edge that goes with the plane. I also have a jig for the four or five ribs that need repaired. I have tried to take many pictures of the plane to give you a good sense of what it needs, but I encourage you to inspect the aircraft before the end of the auction. I will be available at reasonable times to allow you to inspect it. If you want more specific photos please call. As you can see, I intend to sell the Fairchild. No hidden reserve here. Bid only if you are prepared to buy. $1000 within 48 hours and the balance within 7 days. Free storage for the first 30 days. You can make arrangements with me to keep it in the hanger if you need additional time to pick up your new project. The plane has not been sold and moved several times over the years where parts can be misplaced. It has been at the same airport for the last 27 years. Sorry for the upside down pics. Attempting to correct.
