Vintage JLo Rockwell Opposed Twin 2-Cycle
Flat-Head Twin such as this are known for their great torque ratios since both pistons fire simultaneously. I"ve gone through countless hours ordering parts, such as, original plugs, new coils and points, etc...
Engine is very clean for its age. The Tillotson HD Carbs have rebuild kits installed and fresh insulator blocks.
I have re-positioned the starter from the top of the motor between the carburetor to the bottom of the engine. The starter itself is a very fresh Nippondenso brand. You will need a hell of a good battery for this engine has incredible compression with new rings.
This motor is a runner and by no means are they easy to find. These were installed in the 1968 Cheetah Tradewinds Sled and were known to break land speed records in 1968, I believe. Later they were installed in Ultra-Light Aircraft, due to their power to weight ratio. Only thing you"ll need to do is adjust the timing to your application, and one carburetor needs a main jet installed, that is sold on E-Bay for $12.00.
I started building this engine to use as a power source for a Mini Air Boat project, but restoring my Willy"s Army Jeep is more important. I also have a single carburetor intake manifold, that bolts in place of the cover plate in between the two carbs, that will come with it.
This engine weighs close to 70 lbs, so shipping will be $150.00 for me to build wooden platform and box to ship.
