THE MOTOR: This is my trusty 172cc Black Devil from Cors-Air. It has 50 or so hours on the engine (1/2 of the time idling). Although only 3 hours on the new piston rings and gaskets. There was nothing wrong with the old ones, but I took the head off to do a routine inspection and figured I might as well replace them. So, it"s pretty much a new motor again, but the monitor does say 50 or so hours. This motor runs perfect. It produces about 10% more thrust than other Black Devils, I don"t know why. It was made around 2006, which has a heavier duty block compared to the newer less durable version. I have safety wired it to military aircraft standards. I fly it over non-landable and unforgiving areas routinely. This is known as a "suitcase" motor. It does breakdown completely with two different Allen wrenches and a pair of pliers or an adjustable wrench. The net is ugly but works fine. A brand new net is about $40 if you are interested in making it pretty.If you want to fly it, or want to learn to fly it, I"m near San Diego. I"ll give you a few lessons free. No, I am not an instructor, but I have taught a few people who are flying now.I know everything about this motor and wing. I launch from 3,000 ft with zero wind on a hot and humid day. This setup has no trouble getting me (at 230 lbs.) up in the air.
I have switched the fuel tank up to a 3 1/2 gallon size. A custom strap system holds it extremely securely, but also allows you to break the motor down for transport. I have also added an aluminum skid plate for fuel tank protection.You can fly tandem with this motor. Getting a pretty girl to fly with you is up to you.
THE WING: This wing is 28 meters, which is good for someone between 150 lbs to 240 lbs. It has about 50 hours total flight time which includes 5 hours free flight.
