Phantom Aeronautics Classic X-1 Ultralight
Model year and serial number: unknown
This is a true FAA Part 103 ultralight, and does NOT require pilot or aircraft registration or licensing.
I have some photos of this aircraft in my Flickr album:
here aircraft is currently in storage in Sylva, North Carolina, in a covered carport,
as seen in the Flickr album, and has been since approximately 2000.
Ken never flew this aircraft.
It was complete and operable when he bought it, as far as we know,
and we have some photo prints from around the time that he bought it.
The engine that came with the aircraft is no longer in our possession.
It was quite likely stolen along with various other items in early 2014 during a burglary at Ken’s house in Sylva.
The engine was a Kawasaki 440A
A wooden prop, exhaust pipe, reduction drive assembly, V-belts,
intake air filter and a ballistic parachute are included.
Though in basically good condition, it is dirty and partly disassembled.
The fabric looks to my untrained eye to be in good condition.
The wings are off, and have been suspended from the ceiling of the carport to keep them off of the ground,
and there is a tarp over the carport entrance to keep UV from the aircraft fabric.
No warranty of fitness for any use is offered!
We have no significant paperwork / logs for this aircraft.
