Well.... I swore I would never sell her... but now I have 3 airplanes and the time has come to pass her along to a good home. This is my Pterodactyl Ascender II powered by the Cuyuna engine. Anyone who has not flown a Pterodactyl is in for a treat. They climb like a homesick angel and handle like a dream. The wing comes off easily for transportation, and the Canard makes the plane virtually stall-proof. The plane is 2-axis control, meaning all flight-control input is through the control stick, and the plane has no rudder pedals. The Pterodactyl design was first introduced almost 40 years ago, and yet is still in production today - a testament to it"s rugged design and great flying characteristics. The plane is easily converted to a two-seat airplane with the addition of a bolt-on seat (and the required paperwork to convert it to an LSA). Back in the 1980"s a gentleman flew a Pterodactyl from coast to coast, and that plane now hangs at the National Air and Space Museum. I bought this plane four years ago and flew her for a couple years. I"ve been busy the past couple years and so she hasn"t flown in two years. She"s not a show plane, but is a perfect airplane for someone who just wants to fly!! The covering on the Canard is starting to peel. The covering is Oratex, which is really easy to apply. Just cover the Canard and hit it with a heat gun. These planes usually sell for around $3,000 or so, but I"m going to knock a little off the price to account for the fact that the plane hasn"t flown in two years and the Canard needs recovered. The first picture is NOT my plane, but rather a stock photo to show what a Pterodactyl looks like in flight. The second picture is NOT my plane, but shows what a Pterodactyl looks like with a second seat bolted on to make it a two-seat airplane. This conversion is known as the Pterodactyl 2+2. The third picture IS my plane. This picture shows the airplane you will be bidding on. It is important to note that the buyer will make the final judgment as to the airworthiness of the aircraft, and that the seller makes no claims - expressed or implied - as to the airworthiness of the aircraft. The airplane is located in Bardstown, Kentucky. It is important to note that I travel a lot for my job, and that the buyer and I will have to coordinate for a time to arrange pick-up of the aircraft. Shipping is not available. Local pick-up only.
