Make: | ERCOUPE | Model Year: | 1946 |
We are reposting because we now have the log book, and thus more information about the plane.
This airplane comes with all log books and has a current registration/airworthiness certificate for its N number, which is N99940. The last logged entry was in 1968, and shows 1,528 total hours on both the engine and the air frame with an overhaul done on the engine at 730 hours. . The former owner, who acquired it in 1969, never flew it. He kept it in a small hanger on his property, kept the N number and airworthiness certificate current , purchased a number of parts for it, but never finished putting it all back together.
Among many other parts included are a Continental 750 hp engine that has compression, McCauley Propeller, cloth covered wings with no apparent interior corrosion (the cloth does need to be replaced), dual rudders, stabilizer, cowling and mount, windshield with no visible cracks, brand new plexiglass rear windows and trim, control yoke, control panel with most guages, tricycle landing gear, engine mount, nose cone, and much much more. The only parts we know to be missing are the interior and radios. However, we are not airplane mechanics or experts, so please study the photos and video carefully to see exactly what is included. All of the parts appear to be in good condition.
We have the current airworthiness certificate, the logbook, a file with all of the work that was done on the airplane from its manufacture in 1946 until 1969, another file with receipts for all of the items that the previous owner purchased for it since 1969, a file of all of the physical bulletins from the FAA regarding airworthiness for the Ercoupe (until the FAA switched to email), and the serial number plate.
Please contact us if you have any other questions and we will do our best to answer them for you.
If you are interested in just a part or parts of this airplane, please let us know. If the plane does not receive any bids, we will be willing to break it up and sell it for parts.
The Ercoupe is located in Grove City, Pennsylvania, about 1 hour north of Pittsburgh. The buyer is responsible to pick up or arrange pick up.
From the AOPA website:"The Ercoupe—so named because the first models were built by the Engineering and Research Corporation (ERCO) of Riverdale, Maryland—has a following of enthusiastic owners. It’s a two-seater built for simplicity, safety, and fun flying, and was technologically advanced in its day. It’s stall- and spin-resistant thanks to limited elevator travel, has excellent roll stability due to its large wing dihedral, has minimal left-turning tendency effects because its twin rudders are mounted out of the propeller’s blast, and has good landing traits because of its tricycle landing gear and trailing-link main gear. Its designer was the legendary Fred Weick, who went on to craft Piper’s Pawnee agplane and Cherokee line of piston singles. Guaranteed to draw a crowd...they are just plain fun to fly: You can slide down the canopy halves and cruise with the wind in your hair, your arm resting on the window sill."Please view the video to see all of the parts and the condition of this beautiful airplane.
