1946 J3 Cub only 2090TT, 5smoh on -65 engine, no electric system. Was a barn find found in 2011 and stripped down to nothing by an A&P IA, new floor, new interior, new glass, rebuilt instruments, replumbed, Engine Rebuilt, Almost everything redone but when the fabric went on it was put on too tight. Has new NO AD Univaire struts & Grove brakes, New Univaire prop. This plane needs someone who can tinker on a project. A few examples are: Door and Window gaps don"t fit right. fabric is too tight and has moved some of the ribs and structure. Some of the welding is not pretty and should be looked at or redone. fuel leak in the quick drain. This is just what I know of, there may be more. When Restoration was completed, the A&P IA signed off on the logs and filed the 337"s. Complete logs included and shows several instances of some damage and recovering during it"s 70 year history. Airplane was parked in the 70"s and sat until 2011. Has only flown 5 hours since the restoration. Currently out of annual, and we will not be selling it as airworthy. Wings will have to be removed so new owner can trailer home. I do have a set of wing stands that will go with it. It has an airworthiness certificate and a current registration. Currently stored inside a heated hangar but must be removed within 7 days of auction purchase. It is my opinion that the A&P who rebuilt it and signed it all off did not pay close attention to detail and the new owner should dissassemble and inspect for his own piece of mind. It is available for inspection at Ravalli county airport 6S5 in Hamilton, MT, but do so before you buy it. You are not buying a chance to inspect and make up your mind. Buy it Now means just that. You bought it.
I am not a mechanic and I do not know one local who can help you get an annual done. I am not a delivery guy, and you"ll have to get your own shipping quote. I make no representation of what it will take to make it perfect. I"m not able to get you 100 more pictures, sorry. I"m helping my hangar partner sell this as he is no longer able to fly.
Technically, it runs and flies, but I will not allow you to jump in it and fly it home. You must trailer it for my liability reasons. I don"t feel comfortable without someone doing a major inspection of it before jumping in and flying it. If you show up to inspect you can run the engine and hear that it runs great.
You will receive a FAA bill of Sale and aircraft has no liens on it.
If you have time on your hands, at your expense (after purchasing) you could rent a hangar here and do all your inspections and repairs, get an annual or ferry permit, and fly it home. Current date: 2016-02-24
