Overview

This 1947 Aeronca Model 11CC Chief, S/N 11CC-69 (N4166E,) is a very attractive low time, classic high-wing, fabric covered two-seat single engine aircraft with no electrical system. It features an attractive white exterior with red and blue stripes, a nice white and gray interior with white leather seats, shoulder harnesses and dual control yokes.

The aircraft was restored in 1998 after a lengthy period of inactivity. Both wing spars were replaced, the airframe and its control surfaces were covered with Ceconite fabric and primed with epoxy. The engine was also disassembled, inspected and reassembled with some new parts. The aircraft still looks new; the windscreen and all side windows are in very good condition.

Detailed review of the log books reveals what appears to have been a prop strike in 1958 at 282 hr total time. The engine received a major overhaul at that time, and it has been installed ever since then.

The aircraft is located at the Spirit of Saint Louis Airport (KSUS) I Chesterfield, MO.
