WINTER IS COMING......... Do you have your indoor project yet??
Here you go! FUJI LM-1Nikko project. 95% complete in need of restoration. An excellent family warbird, it is basically a slightly stretched T-34 Mentor without all the T-34 AD problems! All of the systems are identical to the Beech T-34 and Bonanza series of aircraft, easy to rebuild, maintain and find parts for!! One of 27 built (this one is #4) it is an ideal economical warbird that can be used daily without breaking the bank in fuel and insurance.
THE GOOD: 95% complete, from a quick look, it is just missing the main wheels, VOR/ADF navigation heads, compass and radio"s (no biggie any restoration would require these to be brought up to modern standards). Quality Fuji manufacturing when perfection was the standard. Basically a four place T-34 without the magnesium or spar issues, all control surfaces interchangeable with the T-34, possibly the wings too?? Japanese Defense Force Logs showing 6320 hrs total time.
THE BAD: The engine (606 hrs since overhaul) is almost guaranteed as a paperweight, but as it is still installed all the goodies are still attached! As the aircraft has been apart for many years she does have a little hanger/handling rash with the stainless exhaust blast tubes being the worst of it. I have no flight or maintenance manuals at all, but there are 7-8 flying examples out there so there is hope!
THE UGLY: Prior to saving her, it was neglected in outside storage. Only found 1 mouse nest but cannot guarantee that it was the only one. She will need a good cleaning and look over in all the hidden places. Also the interior insulation and headliner are mostly gone/rotted.
ADDITIONAL INFO: For those who are "unaware", this aircraft is NOT a weekend project, it needs to be gone over completely!! It is a foreign built military aircraft, thus will have to licensed in the EXPERIMENTAL category (like most warbirds). It has never been licensed in civilian life.
She is located 20 minutes east of Hartford, CT, can pick up prospective buyers at KHFD for a "looksee" if you want to fly in. Aircraft is "as is, where is", will be able to provide some help in loading, cannot help in shipping except for being here to let your shipper have access. Can store for 30 days after sale, if you need longer arrangements can be made but payment in full must be made if over 30 days. Paypal deposit of $1,000 after end of auction, balance in bank check or cash. Current date: 2016-08-20
