“Out of annual. Over TBO. Engine runs rough without aggressive mixture control. No interior. No ELT.”
Make: Cessna Model Year: 1956
Hi. My brother and I started this project about 3 years ago. He needed something to fly to work on his private pilot license. This plane was very rough, but flying when we bought it. We replaced all the glass and instruments (including gyros, etc). We gave it a paint-over coat of Acrylic Enamel paint. We installed a RT-328D 720 channel radio, a VOR indicator, and an intercom in it. We sent the prop off to Mid-America Propeller, and had it balanced and repainted. My brother soloed in the plane, and we did night cross countries. We had the plane up in the air for about 20 hours, but the carb began acting up. Now it hiccups unless you fairly aggressively lean the mixture. My brother got a new job 8 hours drive away, and so we need to sell this plane. I can ferry this airplane anywhere within about 500 miles for expenses IF you buy the airplane first and buy a carb rebuild kit - which I will install free of charge. This will require a ferry permit, and have to go through the local FSDO. I have logs. Aircraft has around 6000 hours total time. Engine has 2400 SMOH, and 3200 total time. Compressions have run in the low to upper 60s for the last several annuals. Paint is currently a good looking 4/10. Interior a 0/10. Seats are functional, but very rough. This is as bare-bones a flying 172 as you will find. Bid to win. Airplane is sold as-is, where is, and not in annual. If you want to see the bird, she is at KMDH, which is a busy little southern Illinois airport. Please do your looking, asking questions, consulting VREF, and everything else prior to bidding. If you buy, I will require a $250 nonrefundable deposit in the first 48 hours, and then the final payment is due within 10 business days. I will pay for storage for a month, and after that, it will cost $120 per month. I might consider trading for the right go-somewhere project aircraft - in which case we would agree on a value of your project BEFORE you bid, and then you would bid like everyone else. Thanks for looking, and happy flying. Oh yeah - pictures are about a month old, and were taken without washing the aircraft. Last flight was on January 18th. The ELT went bad, and is not included in the sale.
