THE BELLANCA 14 SERIES, WHICH STARTED PRODUCTION AFTER WWII, WAS CONSTANTLY UPDATED, WITH INCREASED HORESPOWER AND AIRFRAME REFINEMENTS, BUT WAS A TAILDRAGGER LONG AFTER THE REST OF THE INDUSTRY WENT TO TRYCYCLE GEAR, WHICH PROVIDES INCREASED SAFETY AND HANDLING QUALITIES.IN 1959, THE AIRPLANE, NOW CALLED THE 14-19-3, WAS FINALLY MODERNIZED WITH THE ADDITION OF A NOSEWHEEL (TRICYCLE GEAR), AND ALSO THE ADDITION OF A MODERN, FUEL INJECTED CONTINENTAL 260 H.P. ENGINE (THE SAME SIZE AND TYPE ENGINE AS THE 1959 BONANZA, BUT WITH MORE HORSEPOWER!)THE BONANZA DID NOT GO TO 260 H.P. UNTIL 1961 !!NATURALLY, WITH THE FAMOUSLY SLICK BELLANCA AIRFRAME, AND 260 H.P., THE 14-19-3 IS A VERY QUICK AIRPLANE !! AS FAST OR FASTER THAN A BONANZA OF THE SAME VINTAGE !!4 SEATS SO YOU CAN USE IT AS A CROSS-COUNTRY CRUISER OR FAMILY AIRPLANE, BUT WITH THAT SUPER DISTINCTIVE TRIPLE TAIL, THIS IS A MODERN FAST AIRPLANE WRAPPED UP AS A CLASSIC !!THE FRONT SEATS FROM 1959 WERE NOT VERY COMFORTABLE, BUT THIS AIRPLANE HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH THE 1976 AND UP SUPER VIKING SEATS, WITH HEADRESTS, AND THEY ARE MODERN IN DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION, AND VERY COMFORTABLE !!THE FRONT AND REAR SEATS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION, INCLUDING THE GOLD CRUSHED VELOUR UPHOLSTRY. THE DASH ON THE OLD BELLANCAS ARE REALLY UGLY FROM THE FACTORY, UP TO AND INCLUDING THE 1972 SUPER VIKING, BUT JUST LIKE THE MID-70’S AND ON VIKINGS, THIS AIRPLANE HAS BEEN UPDATED TO A CENTER STACK FOR THE AVIONICS AND A CLEAN “6 PACK” LAYOUT FOR THE FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS.THE NARCO SELF CONTAINED “NAV-122” IS INSTALLED AND INCLUDED IN THE DASH, AS ARE THE TRAYS FOR A KING COM AND A MODE “C” TRANSPONDER, BUT THE COM AND TRANSPONDER PANEL UNITS ARE NOT INCLUDED.ALL OF THE INCLUDED FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS LOOK GOOD, AND ARE OF THE MODERN STYLE, INCLUDING A VERTICAL CARD STYLE D.G.THE TURN COORDINATOR AND ATTITUDE INDICATOR WERE UNPLUGGED, AND ARE NOT INCLUDED.THIS AIRFRAME HAS 2354 HOURS TOTAL TIME SINCE NEW !!THE IO-470F, WHICH IS THE ORIGINAL ENGINE TO THIS AIRFRAME, HAS 1,574 HOURS SINCE MAJOR OVERHAUL.WE HAVE THE ORIGINAL LOGBOOKS BACK TO 3/1959 FOR BOTH ENGINE AND AIRFRAME.THIS AIRPLANE WAS FLOWN AND MAINTAINED REGULARILY UP TO 1999, WHEN IT WAS HANGERED BY THE OWNER AND NOT FLOWN.IN 2016, A NEW OWNER HAD IT FERRIED TO HIS HOME AIRPORT IN NEBRASKA, WHERE A GOOD ANNUAL WAS PERFORMED AND SIGNED OFF.16 FLIGHT HOURS LATER, AFTER LANDING, THE NOSE GEAR FOLDED UP ON ROLL-OUT.AS A BELLANCA OWNER AND PILOT MYSELF, I HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WITH A SUPER VIKING, WHERE THE OVER-CENTER LINKAGE WAS SLOPPY, AND WHEN HITTING A BUMP, IT WENT BACK OVER, AND SLOWLY ALLOWED THE NOSE GEAR TO FOLD.AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS, ONLY THE NOSE FOLDED BACK, NOT THE MAINS. THE NOSE IS OUT WITH CLAMPS TO SECURE IT DOWN, BUT THE MAINS ARE FINE.THE NOSE WHEEL ON A BELLANCA FOLDS STRAIGHT BACK, IT DOES NOT TWIST, SO THERE IS NO DAMAGE OR SCRAPING TO THE NOSEGEAR.NOTICE THE NOSE GEAR DOOR(SUPER VIKINGS DIDN’T GET THIS DOOR UNTIL 1976) IS SCRAPED, BUT NOT DESTROYED.THE FIBERGLASS LOWER COWL HAS SOME SCRATCHING, AND IS CRACKED AT THE OPENING, BUT IS VERY INTACT, AND VERY REPAIRABLE.THE TWO EXHAUST PIPES ARE SCRAPED ON THE BOTTOM EDGE, BUT NOT DESTROYED.THAT IS THE FULL AND COMPLETE EXTENT OF THE AIRFRAME DAMAGE TO THIS AIRPLANE !!!!YOU WILL SEE THERE IS A WRINKLE TO THE RIGHT SIDE SKIN AT THE EDGE OF THE NOSEGEAR WELL.THIS HAS BEEN HAMMERED STRAIGHT, AND THE AIRPLANE HAS BEEN FLYING THAT WAY (THE SHEETMETAL THERE IS NOT STRUCTURAL, JUST AERODYNAMIC. WE KNOW THIS DAMAGE WASN’T CAUSED BY THIS EVENT, BECAUSE, AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS, THE UNDAMAGED AND UNSCRAPED TRANSPONDER AND COMM ANTENNAS IN THIS AREA WOULD HAVE BEEN DAMAGED IF THIS WAS NEW !!THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE WINGS, FLAPS. AILERONS OR MAIN GEAR.THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE CABIN, OR FIREWALL, OR DOORS.NO DAMAGE TO THE TAILCONE OR TAILFEATHERS, INCLUDING THE SUPER COOL TRIPPLE TAIL.THE PROPELLOR IS SCRAPED AND FOLDED OVER AT THE TIPS, SO IT WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT, BUT THE POLISHED SPINNER IS UNDAMAGED.OF COURSE THE ENGINE WILL REQUIRE INSPECTION DUE TO THE PROP HIT.IF YOU WERE INCLINED, I WOULD EXPECT THAT A PROP WOULD BE THE ONLY ITEM REQUIRED TO REPLACE TO FERRY THIS AIRPLANE.LOCATED AT THE NORFOLK, NEBRASKA AIRPORT, IN IT’S OWN T HANGER.WE WILL PAY THE HANGER RENT FOR 30 DAYS FROM THE END OF THE AUCTION.SOLD WITH THE ORIGINAL LOGBOOK FOR BOTH ENGINE AND AIRFRAME, AND AN FAA BILL OF SALE. THE AIRWORTHINESS IS IN THE AIRPLANE, BUT WE HAVE NO OTHER PAPERWORK FOR THE AIRPLANE, SORRY.
