1960 BEECH M-35 BONANZA, 5,000 TOTAL TIME, 1,458 since MAJOR, GEAR DOORS DAMAGED, BUT NOT MUCH OF THE BELLY!THE M-35 IS A FUEL INJECTED, 250 H.P., ALMOST 200 MPH CROSS-COUNTRY AIRPLANE.THIS AIRPLANE LOOKS GOOD, IN GLOSSY ALL-OVER WHITE WITH THE 1980’S BONANZA STRIPE PATTERN IN MAROON AND DARK BLUE.INSIDE, THE BLUE LEATHER SEATS HIGHBACK SEATS HAVE MODERN, COMFORTABLE BOLSTERS, A REAL IMPROVEMENT OVER THE FACTORY DESIGN SEATS. THE FRONTS ALSO HAVE SEPARATE HEADRESTS.THE GLASS IS EXCELLENT, AND THE WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO A THICK SPEED SLOPE UNIT, WHILE THE FRON SIDE WINDOWS ARE THE NEW “FRAMELESS STYLE”, AND SUPER THICK AS WELL !THE DASH HAS BEEN TOTALLY REWORKED AND UPGRADED TO A CENTER-STACK DESIGN FOR THE AVIONICS, WHILE THE LEFT AND CENTER PANEL WERE REDESIGNED THE WAY BEECH SHOULD HAVE MADE IT, WITH ROOM FOR (12) 3 1/8” GUAGES, ALL RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE PILOT, AS WELL AS (7) 2 ¼” HOLES AS WELL!!WHEN COMBINED WITH THE MODERN SWITCHES, REAL FLAP AND GEAR SWITCHES, AND FULL SIZED GUAGES FOR EACH OF THE FUEL TANKS, THIS IS A GREAT DASH !!AS YOU CAN SEE, THE D.G AND TURN CO-ORDINATOR HAVE BEEN REMOVED, AND ARE NOT INCLUDED, AS WAS THE MANIFOLD PRESSURE GUAGE.THE BALANCE OF THE FLIGHT AND ENGINE INSTRUMENTATION IS INSTALLED, AS SHOWN.THE AVIONICS HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE CENTER STACK, AND ARE NOT INCLUDED.INSTALLED AND INCLUDED ARE THE NARCO GLIDESLOPE INDICATOR/RECEIVER, AND THE SOFTCOM INTERCOM.BY THE WAY, BY 1960 THE BONANZA FUEL LOAD WAS INCREASED TO 70 GALLONS, ALL IN THE WINGS !!WITH THE 250 h.p. IO-470’S FUEL BURN BEING LESS THAN THE IO-520, AND THE SPEED BEING ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME, THE RANGE IS AS GOOD AS, OR BETTER, THAN THE V-35B 74 GALLONS !!TO HELP DECREASE THE MINIMUM CONTROLABLE AIRSPEED, THIS AIRPLANE IS EQUIPPED WITH VORTEX GENERATORS ON BOTH THE WINGS AND TAIL !!AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS, THIS AIRCRAFT SUFFERED DAMAGE ON LANDING, AT THE RUTHERFORDTON, N.C. AIRPORT.THE PILOT FORGOT TO LOWER THE GEAR UNTIL HE WAS TOO LOW, SO THE GEAR ONLY PARTIALLY CAME OUT OF THE WELLS, AND THEN SAGGED BACK UP.DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED TO THE FOLLOWING:BOTH INBOARD MAIN GEAR DOORS ARE BADLY DAMAGEDBOTH ATTACHMENT RIBS FOR THE INBOARD DOORS ARE RIPPEDBOTH NOSEGEAR DOORS ARE DESTROYED, AND THE FRONT OF THE NOSE BOWL IS DENTED AND SCRAPED.AS THE AIRPLANE IS STILL SITTING ON THE PARTIALLY EXTENDED GEAR, WE CANNOT SEE THE ACTUAL DAMAGE FROM SCRAPING TO THE FORWARD LOWER COWLING AND BELLY. THE INSIDE OF THE NOSE TUNNEL IS VISIBLE FROM THROUGH THE COWLING, AND THIS REINFORCING “TUNNEL APPEARS STRAIGHT.THE EXHAUST PIPES ON BOTH SIDES ARE FLATTENED, AND THEY DENTED THE CUTOUTS ON THE BELLY RIGHT ABOVE THEM.AFT OF THE NOSE GEAR, THE FUSELAGE BELLY DID NOT TOUCH THE RUNWAY (HELD UP BY THE NOSE WHEEL PARTIALLY EXTENDED AND THE MAIN GEAR, STILL OUT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE INBOARD GEAR DOORS)THE ONLY DAMAGE TO THE BELLY AFT OF THE FIRST 3 FEET IS BEHIND THE FLAPS, WHERE THE BELLY IS WRINKLED, NOT SCRAPED.ALSO NOTE THE LEFT FLAP INBOARD, WHICH IS ALSO WRINKLED BUT NOT SCRAPED. THESE MARKS SEEM TO INDICATE THAT A STRAP WAS USED TO REMOVE THE AIRPLANE FROM THE RUNWAY, TO IT’S CURRENT TIE-DOWN SPOT. THEY DO NOT SEEM TO BE CONSISTANT WITH THE PARTIAL GEAR-UP LANDING.THE PLASTIC TAILCONE IS BROKEN, BUT THE REAR BULKHEAD ITSELF IS UNDAMAGED ( AGAIN, PROBIBLY FROM HANDLING)THERE IS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR ITSELF, ALTHOUGH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL WITH THE AIRPLANE SITTING THE WAY IT IS NOW.THE BONANZAS All USE TUBULAR ACTUATING RODS TO PUSH OUT THE GEAR. IT WOULD BE ASSUMED THESE WOULD BE BENT.THIS AIRPLANE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE DOUBLE-PUCK HEAVY DUTY CLEVELAND WHEELS AND BRAKES, AND THE WHEELS AND BRAKES APPEAR UNDAMAGEDTHE WINGS ARE GOOD, WITH NO SPAR DAMAGE OR SCRAPING, WITH THE ONLY DAMAGE BEING THE INBOARD RIB, WHERE THE GEAR DOORS ATTACH, AND THE GEAR WELL AREAS (CANNOT BE SURE IN IT’S PRESENT POSITION.)AILERONS ARE GOOD.THE WING TIPS ARE GOOD, AND THESE ARE THE SO CALLED “M” TIPS (FIRST YEAR), THAT ARE NOW RETROFITTED TO ALMOST ALL PRE 1960 BONANZAS BECAUSE THEY INCREASE THE CRUISE SPEED WHILE HELPING WITH LOW SPEED CONTROL !!AFT FUSELAGE, AFT TAILCONE AND TAIL FEATHERS ARE ALL GOOD, NO DAMAGETHIS AIRPLANE HAS THE RE-INFORCEMENTS ON THE TAIL FEATHERS, SO IT HAS NO SPEED RESTRICTIONS.THE MID AND AFT BELLY NEVER TOUCHED THE GROUND !!THE OVERALL APPEARANCE OF THE AIRPLANE IS QUITE GOOD, INSIDE AND OUTNEWER STYLE MCCAULEY PROP WAS LAST OVERHAULED IN 2002, ABOUT 800 HOURS AGO. BLADES ARE BOTH BENT NOW.AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE WILL REQUIRE AN INSPECTION.THE SPINNER APPEARS UNDAMAGED.ON THE RAMP AT THE AIRPORT IN RUTHERFORDTON.WE WILL PAY THE STORAGE FOR 30 DAYS FROM THE END OF THE AUCTION, BUT YOU MUST PAY ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGES AFTER THAT.
