“Very Rare, fly it home. Like Focke Wulf 149D, but better!” |
Make: | Piaggio | Model Year: | 1961 |
1961 Piaggio P149E, Super Rare, used by Swissair for nearly 40 years!
There are only 2 P149E’s on the FAA website.
-Very, Very Rare P-149E, with the higher mounted elevator and updates.
-Bought new by Swissair, and used by them until 2000, when it was imported to the USA.
-Very original interior, original seats and seat-belts, original avionics and gauges as installed by Swissair in the 1980’s.
-Avionics:
King KT 76A Transponder
King KY 196 Coms, (2)
King RNAV KNS 80
King Dir. Gyro KG 102A
King ADF KR 87
King KA-134 Audio Panel
-All instruments work, the Attitude Indicator was recently overhauled.
-New Paint in 2011, looks very nice.
-TTAF 9704, 105 SMOH, all compressions above 76/80, 45 SPOH, 45 Since Prop Governor OH, 20 Since Carb OH.
-NDH, Fully Aerobatic, +6/-3
-Lycoming GO-480, manufactured by Piaggio under Lycoming license. (see pic)
-Piaggio Prop and Governor
-Engine overhaul was owner assisted, no short cuts, not done by a shop that could care less. Runs fantastic. Also have many manuals that go with the plane.
-Condition Inspection due 10-2016.
- 149E differences; Higher mount elevator for more control, larger rudder, manual cowl flaps, electric flaps, throttle quadrant more GA like, pressure carb with manual mixture control as well as automatic. Electric gauges for elevator trim and flap settings, and there may be more.
-All logs since new, pages and pages of logs and receipts. Many manuals and books, some pics with it in the Swissair school.
-Same owner from 2007-2015, who loved it and replaced most everything that wears out. New Hoses, rebuilt or replaced just about everything that goes bad. This had an extra oil cooler installed for hot weather operation when it was first operated in the USA in Florida. So it stays wonderfully cool in the summer, and during climb out.
-Runs/Flies excellent! Lots of ramp appeal, and a great history.
Flown weekly so times may be slightly higher, but not much. Would hop in and fly anywhere.
I have many more pictures, and a few video’s flying and doing rolls.
Bottom Line:
Super Rare plane, that’s ready to fly.
Nearly Identical to the Focke-Wulf 149D, FWP-149D
