you are looking at a 1962 mooney M20B that we recently acquired due to the owners health issues. Although he always thought he would be able to fly again he has finally come to realize that that is not in the cards at this time. we purchased the plane and are putting it up for sale to someone who would like to fix it up to their own tastes. the plane is in Rockwood Tennessee which is about 50 miles west of Knoxville Tennessee. we went over and looked the plane over and this is the preliminary inspection that we have come up with.
the paint is average with some chipped places and a couple of the stripes are faded. a good cleaning and a buff job would clean a lot if it up. the glass is in good condition. the seats are still in good shape but the side panels are in need of replacing. the carpet has been removed. the dash is still in good shape.
we didn"t find issues with corrosion, but there is some surface rust on some of the steel parts of the landing gear that will need to be cleaned up before it is painted. spent some time cleaning out the fuel system, and found that the fuel caps need to be replaced. the drains need to be replaced as well. the engine runs great with plenty of power all the way to redline! the oil pressure was great and the charging system is fully functional. plane needs a little more clean up in the fuel system before you fly it out. the mag drop was less than 100 rpm on each magneto. and the carb seems to be in great shape. the fuel system flush is about the only thing that I know of that needs to be done before it leaves. the right fuel tank is not working properly, we cant get fuel from that tank to the fuel pump so plan on using the left to ferry it, unless you want to fix that issue before you take it home. the last annual expired in late 2011
the airframe has 3442 tt and the engine has 800 smoh. as I said. it runs great! have all of the logs but the very first engine log. the overhaul is listed in the logs that we have so we have that documentation.
the radios are as follows com 810 com AT50A transponder with encoder an old loran and adf.
it has an accutrac autopilot!
the plane will be a perfect candidate for someone who wants to fly as they fix it up.
