.AIRPLANES LIKE THIS 1963 HAD ALL METAL WINGS AND TAIL, SO THERE IS NO "ROT" ISSUES.
.THIS IS A VERY PRETTY AIRPLANE !!

.THIS NICE LITTLE AIRPLANE SUFFERED THE INDIGNITY OF LANDING WITHOUT EXTENDING THE GEAR.
LUCKILY, THE MOONEY IS DESIGNED WITH SEVERAL SEPARATE BELLY SKIN PANELS, EACH OF WHICH SIMPLY SCREWS IN TO THE RESPECTIVE BELLY STRINGERS.
.DUE TO THE ANGLE THAT THIS AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN IN, THE DAMAGE IS VERY CONFINED.
ONLY THE BELLY SKINS AFT OF THE NOSE GEAR WELL ARE AFFECTED, AND ALL OF THE SCRAPING STOPS A FEW SKINS FORWARD OF THE REAR EDGE OF THE WING!
A VERY SMALL AREA.
.IT IS COMMON FOR THE INBOARD FLAP HANGER BRACKETS TO BE GROUND DOWN ON A MOONEY GEAR UP, BUT IN THIS CASE THE RIGHT IS COMPLETELY UNDAMAGED, AND THE LEFT HAS ONLY A VERY SMALL SCRAPE, WHICH DID NOT AFFECT THE HINGE BOLT ITSELF !!
.AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS, BOTH OF THE NOSE GEAR DOORS HAVE SCRAPES ON THEM, BUT ARE INTACT AND STRAIGHT
.NEITHER OF THE COWL FLAPS OR THE LOWER COWLING ITSELF IS DAMAGED AT ALL
.IN FACT, THE ONLY OTHER DAMAGE TO THIS ENTIRE AIRFRAME IS TO THE LEFT FLAP TRAILING EDGE INBOARD. THIS DIDN"T HAPPEN DURING THE INCIDENT (IT"S NOT SCRAPED), BUT SOME HELPFUL SOUL LIFTED THE FLAP TOO HARD WHEN HE WAS ASSISTING THE OWNER TO GET THE GEAR EXTENDED ON THE RUNWAY.
.THE GEAR SYSTEM, BY THE WAY, IS NOT DAMAGED IN THE LEAST. THE OWNER JUST FORGOT !!
ALSO NOT DAMAGED ARE:
.EVERYTHING ELSE !!
.NO DAMAGE TO THE WINGS
NO DAMAGE TO THE AILERONS OR THE RIGHT FLAP
NO DAMAGE TO THE MAIN GEAR DOORS
NO DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE AT ALL EXCEPT FOR THE BELLY IN THAT SMALL AREA
DOOR AND BAGGAGE DOOR FIT WELL. THE FUSELAGE IS NOT TWEAKED AT ALL
NO FIREWALL DAMAGE
NO TAILCONE DAMAGE, AND NO DAMAGE TO THE HORIZONTAL, ELEVATORS, VERTICAL OR RUDDER.
THE WINDSHIELDS WERE REPLACED RECENTLY, AND ALL OF THE SIDE GLASS LOOKS GOOD
THE COWLINGS AND NOSEBOWLS ARE UNDAMAGED
THE ENGINE MOUNT IS UNDAMAGED.
.DID YOU NOTICE THAT THERE IS NO ENGINE?
.THE 0-360 LYCOMING HAS BEEN REMOVED, AND IT AND ALL OF IT"S BOLT ON ITEMS AND ACCESSORIES ARE NOT INCLUDED.
.THE ENGINE HAD SUFFERED A PROP STRIKE, OF COURSE, AND WOULD HAVE REQUIRED A TEARDOWN INSPECTION
.AS THESE ENGINES ARE READILY AVAILABLE ON THE OPEN MARKET, FINDING AN UNDAMAGED REPLACEMENT WILL NOT BE DIFFICULT.
