THAT ENGINE HAS THE UNDESIRABLE "DUAL" MAG, WHICH EVERYBODY DISLIKES.
THIS AIRPLANE HAS THE BETTER IO-360-A3B6, STILL COUNTER-WEIGHTED FOR SMOOTHNESS, BUT WITH 2 REAL MAGS FOR RELIABILITY !!

THAT"S RIGHT, THE FORMER OWNER ADDED MONROY AUX FUEL TANKS TO THE STANDARD 52 GALLON TANKS, SO THIS AIRPLANE NOW HAS 88 GALLONS !!!!!!
COMBINE THE EXTRA SPEED WITH THE EFFICIENCY AND 88 GALLONS, AND YOU HAVE AN AIRPLANE THAT CAN TRAVERSE HALF OF THE CONTINENT AT A TIME !!
THE MONROY SYSTEM JUST HAS THE OUTBOARD TANKS FLOW INTO THE INBOARDS, SO THERE IS NO EXTRA FUEL SELECTORS OR PUMPS TO WORRY ABOUT !!
AND YOU CAN EASILY CHOOSE NOT TO FILL THE OUTBOARDS, SO YOU DON"T NEED TO CARRY WHAT YOU WON"T USE !!
ALL OF THIS FUEL REQUIRES A FEW MORE ITEMS, AND THIS AIRPLANE HAS THEM
A JPI EDM-700 EGT/CHT SCANNER WITH BUILT IN FUEL FLOW !!
KNOW TO THE FRACTION OF A GALLON HOW MUCH YOU HAVE USED AND HOW MUCH YOU HAVE LEFT, AS WELL AS THE CONDITION OF YOUR ENGINE AND PROPER LEANING !!
THE OTHER NEAT TOY IS AN AILERON TRIM SYSTEM
WHEN YOU HAVE FULL TANKS, THE AIRPLANE STAYS LEVEL OF COURSE, BUT AS YOU BURN FUEL, ESPECIALLY AT FIRST WHEN YOU ARE BURNING OFF THE OUTBOARD TANKS, ONE WING WILL GET LIGHTER ON YOU.
NO WORRY, JUST HIT THE WING DOWN SWITCH ON THE TRIM, AND IT COMPENSATES IMMEDIATELY, AND YOU ARE BACK TO LEVEL. SUCH A NEAT FIX, AND THE AIRPLANE WOULD BE MORE WORK WITHOUT IT !!
THIS AIRPLANE IS PC EQUIPPED
PC, OR POSITIVE CONTROL, IS MOONEY"S LITTLE HELPING HAND
LIKE A CENTURY I AUTOPILOT, IT WILL HELP YOU HOLD THE WINGS LEVEL, BUT THERE IS NO TRACKING, SO IT IS REALLY JUST A VACUMN ASSIST, NOT A REAL AUTOPILOT. I USED IT THE WHOLE WAY, AND IT DOES TAKE SOME OF THE STRAIN OFF ON A LONG FLIGHT.

UNLIKE THE UGLY, COMPLETELY RIDICULOUSLY UN-ERGONOMIC DASH OF A 1966 M20E, (WHICH IS ACTUALLY A LITTLE BETTER THAN A 1964 OR "65, WHICH ARE EVEN WORSE, )
THIS AIRPLANE HAS THE 201 DASH CONVERSION AS WELL !!

THE FORMER OWNER USED THIS PLANE TO FLY HALF WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY REGULARLY TO VISIT HIS DAUGHTER IN COLLEGE FAR AWAY, AND IT WORKED FANTASTIC FOR THAT !!
HE WASN"T AS WORRIED ABOUT COSMETICS, SO HE DIDN"T REALLY SPEND ANY TIME ON THEM.
THE TOP COWL HAS SOME PEELING PAINT, AS DO THE LEADING EDGES OF THE WINGS
THE WING TO FUSELAGE FAIRING ON THE LEFT SIDE HAS SOME FILLER CRACKING OUT.
THE 201 WINDSHIELD IS CLEAR, BUT THE SIDE WINDOWS ARE STARTING TO HAZE A LITTLE (HE KEPT IT PARKED OUTSIDE IN THE NORTHEAST, BUT HE USED A NICE CABIN COVER THAT COMES WITH IT, SO THE FUSELAGE ITSELF LOOKS REALLY CLEAN.
NOW THAT HIS DAUGHTER HAS GRADUATED, HIS NEED FOR A FAST, EFFICIENT AIRPLANE DOESNT EXIST.
THE AIRPLANE ONLY FLEW 28 HOURS IN 2015, AND LESS THIS YEAR, AND HE COULD NO LONGER RATIONALIZE KEEPING IT.
SOME HEALTH PROBLEMS ADDED TO HIS DESIRE TO SELL.
HE HAS BOUGHT SOME PARTS FROM ME OVER THE YEARS, AND KNEW I FLY A MOONEY, SO HE OFFERED TO SELL HIS LIKE IT IS, RATHER THAN TAKE THE TIME AND ELBOW GREASE IT WILL REQUIRE TO MAKE THE OUTSIDE MATCH ALL OF THE OTHER GREAT THINGS ABOUT THIS AIRPLANE !!
