The winning bidder had a personal emergency and was unable to purchase, so you have another chance!.
This aircraft has been donated to our charity since the owner no longer needs it. It is hangared at Odessa-Schlemeyer Field Airport (KODO), Odessa Texas.
We are presenting it in this ad to try and describe it as best as we can.
The owner received a letter from the FAA advising that the mechanic who performed the last annual inspection had his license revoked. We can provide the letter upon request.
It was discovered that he was billing customers for repairs that were not performed in addition to logging false repairs that were not needed in order to bill the customer. Therefore the information in the log books cannot be trusted. Anyone interested in purchasing the plane should have it looked over personally.
We had the plane sent to another FAA mechanic to install a new battery and do miscellaneous repairs to get it into a running condition since it has not been in the air for 2 1/2 years. While he was at it, we had him look it over for obvious corrosion issues as well. He did not do a thorough inspection, but as a precaution recommends that one be done as would be common practice before purchasing any older aircraft. Here is what he had to say about it:
I got the 337 all finished up today. Engines cranked right up and ran smooth with all indications showing normal.
The engine baffle is pretty bad. It is corroded all the way through in some spots and would have to be replaced to fix correctly.
The corrosion that I saw on the skin surfaces could be treated and repainted if they are the only spots. But I would highly recommend someone really looks over the entire airplane very well before they purchase it to make sure there is no major corrosion in any structural areas. That would be the only deal breaker. Other than that possibility I don"t see any reason that it wouldn"t make a good airplane for someone that was willing to put some money into it to make the necessary repairs.
I didn"t see anything else that would have to be addressed to make it fly. I believe it"s ready for someone to do a ferry permit and get it out of there.
It will require a ferry permit as well as a new annual inspection. The craft is sold as- is, where is. We are presenting it in this advertisement as best as we know. Feel free to send any questions you may have and I will forward to the owner for an answer.
The transaction and ownership transfer will be conducted by Aero Title with buyer and seller sharing the Aero Title"s fee.
