THE E-55 IS THE TOP OF THE LINE FOR STANDARD FUSELAGE BARONS, WHOSE LINEAGE GOES BACK TO THE ORIGINAL B95 TRAVEL-AIRS, WHICH WERE REALLY JUST A BONANZA WITH 2 SMALL ENGINES !!
OVER THE YEARS BEECHCRAFT INCREASED THE HORSEPOWER, WHICH INCREASED THE CRUISE SPEED AND THE CARGO AND PEOPLE HAULING ABILITY, WHICH REQUIRED STRENGTHENING ALL OF THE STRUCTURAL COMPONANTS.
SPEAKING OF SPEED, IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT THE E-55 IS A TRUE 200 KNOT CRUISE AIRPLANE (NOT MPH, MANY AIRPLANES GO 200 MPH ), BUT 200 KNOTS CRUISE IS A WHOLE OTHER THING!! THATS 230 MPH, WITHOUT TURBOCHARGING !!!!
STARTING WITH THE C-55 IN 1966, BEECHCRAFT ADDED MORE FUSELAGE FORWARD OF THE CABIN, AND TWO LITTLE SLING SEATS IN THE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT, TO MAKE THE C-55 A "6" SEATER, BUT THE ONLY GOOD WAY OUT OF THOSE SLING SEATS WAS THROUGH A TINY BAGGAGE DOOR !!
THE D55A OF 1969 BROUGHT THE NOW HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER LARGE BAGGAGE DOOR, WHICH THE E-55 HAS AS WELL, BUT KEPT THE LITTLE SLING SEATS WHICHED BLOCKED OFF ALL OF THE REAR BAGGAGE SPACE.
THE E-55, LIKE THIS ONE, SOLVED THESE PROBLEMS BY ADDING AN ADDITIONAL 10" TO THE NOSE, WHICH ALLOWED 10" MORE IN THE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT, WHICH ALLOWED FOR FULL SIZED 5TH AND 6TH SEATS, PLUS SOME BAGGAGE BEHIND
IN ADDITION, ALL E-55"S HAVE SPEED SLOPE WINDSHIELDS, FRAMELESS SIDE GLASS, AND A LONGER POINTY FIBERGLASS NOSECONE
THIS AIRPLANE SUFFERED SOME FAIRLY MINOR DAMAGE WHEN THE MAIN GEAR LEG ON THE RIGHT SIDE IMPACTED AN OBJECT OFF THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY
THE GEAR LEG ON THAT SIDE BROKE OFF AT THE CHROME, AND THE UPPER TRUNION AND INBOARD GEAR DOOR WERE DAMAGEDTHERE IS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE INBOARD GEAR DOOR HINGE AREA OF THE RIGHT WING, BUT THE BALANCE OF THE RIGHT WING APPEARS UNDAMAGED
THE WHOLE LEFT WING APPEARS UNDAMAGED !!
THE LEFT MAIN GEAR UPPER AND LOWER GEAR LEG IS UNDAMAGED
THE FUSELAGE DOES NOT SHOW ANY DAMAGE, EXCEPT SOME FAIRLY LIGHT SCRAPING DAMAGE TO THE BELLY FROM TRANSPORT.
THIS AIRPLANE HAS BEEN STRIPPED OF MANY MAJOR COMPONENTS !!
IT NO LONGER INCLUDES ENGINES, PROPS, ENGINE MOUNTS, AVIONICS, FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS, INTERIOR, 1 FLAP, AILERONS, TAIL CONTROL SURFACES, OR WHEELS AND BRAKES !!!
SO WE HAVE A STRAIGHT LOOKING FUSELAGE, I GREAT WING, 1 GOOD WING, AND THE UNDAMAGED VERTICAL FIN AND RUDDER.BUT THERE IS MORE !!
ALL OF THE GLASS LOOKS GOOD
ALL OF THE ENGINE CONTROL CABLES ARE INTACT, AND LOOK GOOD, INCLUDING THROTTLES, MIXTURES AND PROP CONTROLS !!
THE LARGE BAGGAGE DOOR AND FRAME, PLUS OUTER LATCH, IS EXCELLENT
THE CABIN DOOR AND FRONT BAGGAGE DOOR ARE UNDAMAGED
THE CABIN HEATER SYSTEM IS INCLUDEDTHE HEATED PITOT IS INCLUDEDTHE CENTURY 3 AUTOPILOT ROLL, PITCH, AND TRIM SERVOS ARE MOUNTED AND INCLUDED
SOME OF THE INSTRUMENTS ON THE INTACT DASH ARE INCLUDED, AS ARE THE RUDDER AND BRAKE PEDALS, CIRCUIT BREAKERS, POWER QUADRANT, ETC.THE LANDING GEAR MOTOR AND "PUMPKIN" TRANSMISSION ARE INCLUDEDTHE NOSE GEAR UPPER TRUNION IS INCLUDED
