Item specifics
Condition: Used Make: Cessna
Model Year: 1971
I am representing for the owner this 1971 Cessna 421B N5974M. It has complete airframe logbooks since new, no known damage history, always US registered and based. In 2000 there was a repair made to the left wing aft rear spar cap when granular corrosion was found during an inspection. In 1991 the rudder was repaired (hangar rash). Total airframe time is 5375 hours since new. In 2011 the left engine was replaced due to engine failure with a used serviceable engine purchased from a salvage yard. In 2014 the right engine was replaced due to failure with a used serviceable engine purchased from a salvage yard. The approximate times on the engines are 730 hours on the left and 675 hours on the right but are UNVERIFIED! These approximate times are calculated based on the hours the salvage yards the engines were purchased from represented as having on them when installed and the hours flown since then. The pilot/mechanic who had been flying and maintaining the plane passed away from cancer and many of the engine records cannot be found. We have minimum prior history on these engines and there are no prior logbooks for them. The left propeller has 1370 hours since overhaul and the right 400 hours since overhaul. An extensive annual inspection was completed in July 2014 including extensive AD research and the mechanic performing it was able to recreate a logbook for the left engine based on the information available. Again we have complete airframe logbooks since new, a recreated left engine logbook but none for the right engine. The plane could be ferried if you were to obtain a ferry permit because the annual is expired. Or bring your mechanic and do an annual in the hangar the plane is located at Madison County Airport (KUYF), London, Ohio. We have tools, jacks, compressed air and everything you would need to do a pre buy inspection or annual.
The exterior is allover Matterhorn White with Aristo Blue and Medium Gray accent. It was stripped and painted with Jet Glo in 1995 and has been hangared. With cleaning and minor detail work it could be a 7/10. New boots were installed by BF Goodrich in 1995, also. Left main wing boot has less than a dozen quarter sized patches and a few on the left horizontal stabilizer. Balance of the boots appear to be in good shape. The interior was partially refurbished 6 or 7 years ago and with some detail work could be a 6-7/10. The seats are grey leather with grey carpeting and coordinating side panels. There seven seats total and a belted side facing potty for a total belted capacity of 8. There is also an aft refreshment center. Useful load is 2368 pounds.
Avionics are:-Apollo CNX80 GPS/COM (Garmin GNS480)-Garmin MX20 multi function display-Garmin GNS430W (currently not installed, could be negotiated)-King KMA24 audio panel with 3 LMB-(2) King KT76A transponders/encoders-Bendix color weather radar (not certain which unit, maybe RDR160?)-WX900 stormscope-Bendix FCS810 autopilot-King KCS55 slaved HSI-Shadin AMS-2000 altitude alert system
Features are:-Wing and tail deice boots-Three blade hot propellers and alcohol windshield-Factory air conditioning-Vortex generators-Copilot instruments-Digital fuel flow/totalizer-Long range fuel (I believe 226 gallons?)
All specifications should be verified prior to purchase. If you are interested you should inspect the airplane with your mechanic. We cannot guarantee the functioning of any of the systems but can start the airplane and check what systems you can while on the ground. The plane is out of annual by less than a year so it cannot be test flown. You will be buying "AS IS, WHERE IS". But we can make the hangar and tools available for your inspection, including jacks and compressed air.
