ARROWS ARE THE FASTEST OF THE NORMALLY ASPIRATED ARROWS !!WITH THE SAME FUSELAGE AND WINGS AS THE 135 KNOT 180 HORSEPOWER 1968’S, BUT WITH 20 MORE HORSEPOWER DUE TO BETTER FLOWING HEADS AND A BETTER INTAKE SYSTEM, THE 69-71 200’S ARE 140-142 KNOT AIRPLANES FROM THE FACTORY, MORE WITH SPEED MODS (LIKE THIS ONE, WHICH HAS THE METCO WINGTIPS), AND BETTER IN CLIMB AND SHORTER TAKE-OFF ROLL.ALL ARROWS BENEFIT FROM THE LATE STYLE DASH LAYOUT AND QUADRANT THROTTLE SETUP, BUT THE 1973 WAS IMPROVED WITH A PADDED EYEBROW OVER THE INSTRUMENTS, FOR OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION AND MORE SHADE ON THE INSTRUMENTS. THIS AIRPLANE HAS HAD THE PADDED EYEBROW INSTALLED.THE 1973 IS THE FIRST YEAR FOR 2 INDIVIDUAL BUCKET SEATS IN THE REAR, NOT A BENCH. THESE SEATS ARE LIGHTER, RECLINE INDIVIDUALLY, AND ARE EASILY REMOVABLE FOR ADDITIONAL STORAGE, IF DESIRED.THIS AIRPLANE HAS A USEFUL LOAD OF OVER 1,000 LBS.OTHER NEW FOR 1971 FEATURES INCLUDE RETRACTABLE SHOULDER HARNESSES FOR THE FRON SEAT PASSENGERS.THIS AIRPLANE HAS 7,937 HOURS SINCE NEW. THE ORIGINAL 2 LOGBOOKS (FROM 1971 THROUGH 1994) WERE NOT WITH THE PAPERWORK WE HAVE LOGS FROM 1995 TO THE PRESENT, 337’S FROM 1971, AD COMPLIANCE SHEETS, WEIGHT AND BALANCE DATA BACK TO ’71, ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT LIST, POH, AND LOTS OF ADDITIONAL PAPERWORK, PLUS THE PROP LOG AND THE ENGINE LOG SINCE OVERHAUL BY G&N IN 2002.THE PAPERWORK AND LOGS SHOW THIS AIRPLANE HAS BEEN BASED IN IOWA CONTINUOUSLY SINCE 1975, WHICH IS GREAT, BECAUSE IOWA IS IN THE LANDLOCKED MIDWEST, AND IS A VERY LOW COROSION ENVIRONMENT.THE INSIDES OF THE FUSELAGE AND WINGS ON THIS AIRPLANE ARE VERY CLEAN !!THE OVERALL LOOK ON THE OUTSIDE IS GOOD, WITH ONLY A LITTLE TOUCH-UP ON THE COWL REQUIRED TO MAKE IT LOOK REAL NICE.INSIDE, THE DARK GREY VINYL SEATS AND SIDE PANELS HAVE LIGHT GREY CLOTH INSERTS THAT LOOK MODERN, AND ARE NOT CUT OR TORN AT ALL.THE DASH IS CLEAN, WITH THE LATE CHEROKEE 6 PACK GUAGE LAYOUT AND ROOM FOR 2 STACKS OF RADIOS.EVERYBODY WANTS AN AUTOPILOT IN THEIR CROSS-COUNTRY AIRPLANE, AND THIS ARROW HAS A GOOD WING LEVELOR WITH HEADING BUG ON THE D.G. AND A RADIO TRACKER SYSTEM (AUTOCONTROL III).THIS AIRPLANE SUFFERED THE INDIGNITY OF A GEAR UP LANDING, WITH A CFI AND COMMERCIAL STUDENT ONBOARD NO LESS !!I DID NOT HEAR A GOOD EXCUSE ON WHY THEY WOULD LAND WITHOUT CONFIRMING GEAR DOWN, BUT THEY DID, UNTIL ABOUT THE LAST POSSIBLE SECOND, WHEN EITHER ONE OF THE HUMANS ON BOARD, OR THE PIPER “AUTOMATIC” GEAR EXTENSION SYSTEM STARTED TO LOWER THE GEAR.IN THIS CASE, BETTER LATE THAN NEVER SEEMS TO APPLY.I HAVE BOUGHT GEARED UP AIRPLANES, INCLUDING ARROWS, FOR OVER 30 YEARS, AND THIS AIRPLANE HAS THE LEAST AMOUNT OF AIRFRAME DAMAGE I HAVE SEEN !!THE AIRPLANE WAS OBVIOUSLY ROLLING ON THE TIRES AT SOME POINT ! NORMALLY, AN ARROW WILL SCRAPE ALL 4 OF THE “STRAKES” ON THE BELLY, BUT THIS AIRPLANE HAS ONLY 1 STRKE WITH ANY MISSING MATERIAL (ONE OF THE MIDDLE ONES, AND ONLY A 2 FOOT SECTION IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT STRAKE.THE OTHER MIDDLE STRAKE HAS SOME PAINT MISSING IN A SIMILAR AREA, BUT HASN’T REALLY LOST ANY MATERIAL, SO I THINK IT WOULD BE A SAND AND REPAINT, NOT REPLACE.THE AREAS THAT ARE TRADITIONALLY DAMAGED IN A TRUE GEAR UP ARE NOT DAMAGED HERE !!NO SCRAPING ON THE LOWER COWLNO SCRAPING ON THE FORWARD CAPS OF THE STRAKESNO SCRAPING ON THE FLAP HANGERSNO SCRAPING ON THE FORWARD JACK POINT OR NOSEGEAR ACTUATOR SUPPORT.NO GEAR DAMAGE IS APPARENT TO ANY OF THE 3 GEAR ! THIS WAS NOT A GEAR COLLAPSE OR GEAR FAILURE REMEMBER !!NO DAMAGE TO THE WHEELS, NOR TO THE MAIN GEAR DOORSNO DAMAGE TO THE EXHAUST PIPES (NOT SCRAPED), BUT THERE IS A LITTLE CRACKING ON THE LOWER FIBERGLASS COWL IN THAT AREA.THERE IS A CRACK, ALSO PROBIBLY PRE-EXISTING ON THE INSIDE RIGHT WHEEL WELL. THE CLOSE-OUT PANEL ON THE OUTBOARD EDGE OF THE WHEEL WELL (NOT THE SPARS, OR THE REINFORCED RIB, JUST A SINGLE THICKNESS SHEET OF ALUMINUM, HAS A CRACK AT ONE UPPER CORNER. THE LEFT SIDE PROBIBLY HAD IT ONCE TOO, AS IT HAS A DOUBLER ADDED THERE. YOU COULD CERTAINLY STOP DRILL AND PATCH IT.WHAT DID GET HURT?THE BOTTOM EDGES OF BOTH NOSE GEAR DOORS ARE SCRAPED, BUT NOT DESTROYEDTHE STEP IS SCRAPEDBOTH FLAPS ARE WORN DOWN ON THE INBOARD TRAILING EDGESTHE 2 BLADE HARTZELL PROP IS CURLED ON BOTH TIPSTHE ENGINE HAS, OF COURSE, SUFFERED A PROP STRIKE AS A RESULT.BEFORE YOU RIGHT THE ENGINE OFF, KEEP THESE POINTS IN MIND:THE MAJOR WAS DONE IN 2002 BY G&N, A TOP OVERHAUL SHOPTHE COMPRESSIONS AT THE LAST ANNUAL 3/2017 (YES, IT’S JUST 2 MONTHS OUT OF ANNUAL) WERE ALL FANTASTIC AT 80/80/78/80 OVER 80 !!!!AND IT’S ALWAYS HAD GOOD COMPRESSIONS. Looking through the logs, it has never had a cylinder lower than the high 70’s, and consistently has all 79 over 80 or better !!SOLD WITH A COLLINS DIGITAL NAV-COMM AND VOR INDICATOR, BUT IF YOU GUESSED IT MIGHT HAVE HAD MORE, YOU WOULD BE RIGHT !I REMOVED THE TRAYS FROM THE GARMIN 340 AUDIO PANEL AND GARMIN 430W, AND THE TRAYS, TRAYBACKS AND PANEL UNITS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE, SO YOU ARE FREE TO INSTALL ANY ADDITIONAL UNITS YOU DESIRE, WITHOUT PAYING FOR WHAT YOU DON’T.IF THE IDEA OF A 430/340 IS INTERESTING TO YOU, KEEP IN MIND THAT ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL AND ANTENNA CONNECTORS ARE STILL INSTALLED, AND FULLY WIRED, AND INCLUDED !!NOT ONE OF THE WIRES WAS CUT, AND THE FULL CERTIFICATION IS STILL INTACT !!THESE TYPE UNITS ARE ALWAYS AVAILABLE, FROM US OR OTHERS, NOW OR IN THE FUTURE, WHEN YOU ARE READY TO INSTALL THEM.THERE IS NO TRANSPONDER INSTALLED OR WIRED (BUT I NOTICED THERE IS STILL A MODE “C” ENCODER INSTALLED).THIS IS A GOOD, STRAIGHT ARROW.DO THE INSPECTION AND CONTINUE THE ENGINE TIME, OR MAJOR THE ENGINE AND START WITH A FULL LIFE, OR EXCHANGE FOR A PART LIFE UNIT (SORRY, WE DO NOT HAVE ANY GOOD TIME 200 H.P.
