1973 Grumman AA-1B IFR - Great Trainer. Condition is Used. Local pickup only.
Here is a well-maintained, airworthy, full-logbook history, regularly flown Grumman AA-1B for sale. It is 3121 TT, 1121 SMOH, 616 STOH with a TBO of 2400. The last annual that it had was in March 2019 with 74,78,78,72 compression and had no major issues. It has a basic panel with the standard six pack plus a Bendix King Silver Crown radio package (redone in 2017) sporting 2 Comms, 2 NAVs with glideslope function (thus is a basic IFR trainer).
As far as maintenance and air frame condition goes: The interior seats/carpeting were re-done in 2017Installed an LED Landing Light and a Reconditioned HDG Indicator in 2018.Paint is still in great condition for its age.Original wheel pantsOil cooler for the warmer monthsOil changes were completed every 25 TACH hours.New canopy cover from Jim Cancil from planecover.com in 2018 (before he retired)If you are considering this platform of aircraft compared to a 150/152 or Beechcraft Skipper platform, keep in mind that the skin of the airline is bonded. In other words, there are no rivets which allows us Grumman owners to fly faster than your 152s to reduced drag. You can expect a regular cruise at 95 KIAS and 5-6 GPH fuel burn.If you"re wondering why I am selling this great bird, well it has served its purpose. I purchased it in February 2018 to serve as a Commercial Pilot time builder. It ended up getting me through CPL/CFI/(maybe CFII soon?). It has never failed to be reliable and continues to operate beautiful. Essentially, I have watched this plane become a toy after using it as a tool for almost 2 years. I would like to use the money to further my aviation career with a multi engine rating and better financial security.Since I am a CFI, I am able to offer you a little bit of free flight training if you decide to purchase 9CQ. Wether its for your insurance premium or comfortably in the airplane, I would be happy to show you how it behaves. If you need the plane ferried (within reasonable distance from KHWV), I may be able to work with you to drop it off at your airport.
Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions, comments, or concerns! Fly safe!
