THE SUPER VIKING IS A 190/195 MPH 4 PLACE CROSS-COUNTRY CRUISER, WITH EXCELLENT HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS AND RELIABLE MECHANICALS
KNOWN FOR BEING VERY FAST AIRPLANES EVEN WITH THIER OLDER MODELS BACK IN THE 19 50S AND 60"S, THE SUPER VIKING 17-30 SERIES CREATED A MODERN AIRPLANE THAT BESTED THE COMANCHE AND EQUALLED THE BONANZA AT ALMOST EVER POINT, AND SURPASSED THEM BOTH IN IT"S EXCELLENT HANDLING QUALITIES !!
LONG CONSIDERED A PASSENGER P-51 BY MANY, THE BELLANCA IS VERY RESPONSIVE, ESPECIALLY IN ROLL, AND MAKES THE OTHER SIMILAR ....PIPER..., BEECH..., AND MOONEY.... PRODUCTS ACT LIKE THEIR WINGS ARE STUCK IN THE MUD !!
THE GREAT NEWS IS THAT DUE TO IT"S CONSTRUCTION, THE BELLANCA IS ACTUALLY MORE SOLID, AND SOLID FEELING THAN ANY OF THE OTHERS. NOT TWITCHY OR SKITTISH, EVEN IN TURBULENCE, JUST MORE RESPONSIVE WHEN YOU MOVE THE YOKE !!

I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL AS MY PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION AIRPLANE, AND LIKE THE HANDLING OF THEM FAR BETTER THAN MY CURRENT M20M, WHICH IS MORE EXPENSIVE, AND JUST HAPPENS TO GO FASTER, (AND BURN MORE GAS !!)
THIS PARTICULAR 1974 17-30A HAS 1706 TOTAL TIME
THE CONTINENTAL IO-520K 300 H.P. ENGINE HAS 1706 SNEW
THIS AIRPLANE SUFFERED DAMAGE WHEN IT WENT LONG OF THE END OF THE RUNWAY ON LANDING. BEFORE THE PILOT COULD GET THE AIRPLANE STOPPED, THE LEFT GEAR LEG HIT AN OBSTRUCTION, AND THE LOWER LEG SNAPPED BACKWARD !!
THE GREAT NEWS IS THAT THERE WAS NO PROP STRIKE !!
THE HARTZELL 3 BLADE PROP WAS NOT DAMAGED !!!
NO PROP STRIKE TO THE CONTINENTAL IO-520K ENGINE !!
THE NOSE GEAR AND THE OTHER MAIN GEAR SUFFERED NO DAMAGE AND DID NOT COLLAPSE !!!
THE ACCIDENT DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT SIDE IS TO THE MAIN GEAR AND ONE OF THE MAIN GEAR CLAMSHELLS !!
THAT IS IT !!!!!!
NO WING DAMAGE FROM THIS INCIDENT IS APPARENT !!!
BECAUSE OF THE GEAR DAMAGE, THE AIRPLANE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE TOWED OFF OF THE RUNWAY, SO IT WAS DISASSEMBLED FOR TRANSPORT AND NOW WILL REQUIRE NORMAL RE-ASSEMBLY
THERE IS A SMALL AMOUNT OF BELLY SKIN DAMAGE AND ONE WOOD FORMER, FROM THE AIRPLANE BEING CARRIED ORIGINALLY ON IT"S BELLY. VERY REPAIRABLE. YOU WILL SEE THAT WE HAVE A CUSTOM MADE SET OF DOLLY GEAR FOR BELANCAS, SO WE DONT SCRAPE THE BELLY, BUT THESE DOLLIES ARE NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS LISTING
THE EXTERIOR COSMETICS ON THIS AIRPLANE ARE NOT GREAT, AND, ALTHOUGH PASSABLE, THE ORIGINAL PAINT FROM 1974 (BUILT 10/1973) IS ABOUT DONE. THE ORIGINAL REDDISH ORANGE ISN"T REALLY A MODERN COLOR ANYWAY.
SPEAKING OF THAT ORANGE COLOR, IT APPEARS THAT THE INTERIOR COLOR IS ALSO ORIGINAL TO THE PLANE. SURPRISINGLY (OR MAYBE NOT, THIS IS A LOW TIME CROSS-COUNTRY, PRIVATE USE AIRPLANE, NOT A TRAINER OR CLUB AIRPLANE) THE CONDITION IS QUITE GOOD
THE EXTERIOR CONDITION IS MOSTLY COSMETIC, BUT THE FIBERGLASS SKIN DOES HAVE CRACKS IN IT IN A FEW PLACES. I SHOWED THEM IN THE PICS. THE UNDERLYING SKIN DOES NOT SHOW CRACKS IN THESE OR OTHER AREAS, SO A FIBERGLASS SKIN REPAIR, NOT UNDERLYING REPAIR, IS INDICATED.
SOLD WITH ALL ENGINE INSTRUMENTATION, AS WELL AS ALL FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS EXCEPT THE ATTITUDE AND DG
AVIONICS PANEL UNITS HAVE BEEN REMOVED, SO YOU CAN ADD WHAT YOU WANT, OR REPLACE THE UNITS INTO THE TRAYS PROVIDED AND WIRED, WHICH INCLUDE KMA-20 AUDIO PANEL TRAY, KX-170B TRAY WIRED TO A GLIDESLOPE INDICATOR PLUG, KING TRANSPONDER TRAY, ALREADY WIRED TO A MODE "C" ENCODER.
THIS IS A SUPER EASY PROJECT, WHICH REQUIRES ALMOST NO REPAIRS (EASY GEAR AND GEAR DOOR BOLT-ON REQUIRED ONLY), THAT WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH A FANTASTIC, SUPER FAST CROSS-COUNTRY AIRPLANE, AT A PRICE BELOW THAT OF AN AVERAGE CESSNA 150 !!!!
THE ORIGINAL LOGBOOKS HAVE BEEN LOST, AND THERE IS NOT ANY PAPERWORK FROM BEFORE 2001, BUT LEST YOU GET CONCERNED ABOUT THE CURRENT CONDITION OF THIS AIRPLANE, BE AWARE THAT THE LAST 2 ANNUALS WERE PERFORMED BY WEBER IN ALEXANDRIA, MINNESOTA, HOME OF THE BELLANCA FACTORY !!
