1978 GRUMMAN AMERICAN AVN. CORP. GA-7
Fixed wing multi engine - (4 seats / 2 engines)
2 LYCOMING 0-320 SERIES engines Horsepower: 160 (Reciprocating)
Just over 1800 hours since NEW on both engines and airframe.
The GOOD
Aircraft has only around 1800 hours since new. That"s the best part. No accidents, which is also good. Avionics were wonderful - with a slaved HSI, Stormscope, Weather Radar, Radar Altimeter, R Nav, Dual Navcoms (King) and much more including - a Loran. Yeah, older stuff. Engines were both started and run last on July 31, 2010. Particulars and equipment list on request. Also very much in the good column is the GA-7 aircraft itself. You can"t get a safer or more economical twin.
The BAD
OK, here goes a list. Aircraft is way out of annual and has been tied down on the grass since it"s last flight. The government shut down the airport after 9/11 due to how close it was to the White House and I moved out of the area. Then I got older and now I just want a fun little single since I won"t be needing to fly serious weather anymore.
Avionics are outdated and some may not be working due to sitting so long.
Aircraft is way out of annual and will certainly need a full inspection.
Some corrosion may be expected, but a recent inspection revealed almost none.
I would strongly suggest overhauling both engines at this point.
Props are out of date. Both com antennas are broken.
Needs things like a battery and three tires. I have three unused tires for it.Needs a paint job from sitting out and from all the weather I flew in.
Needs an interior - also from sitting out in the sun.
Link to a site discussing the GA-7. It will give a lot of information,
but remember that it was written many years ago so prices have little
meaning.

Notes about this listing:
I am listing this for a friend who has also advertised it locally. So, it"s possible, but not likely, that it could sell as a result of fliers or advertising he put out.
Terms:
This aircraft is located at the College Park (Maryland) airport (KCGS). It is right outside Washington DC. The plane is being sold as is and where is. All accessories will convey with the plane including the unused and unmounted tires. Some limited help will be available to get it running, but you will be responsible for getting a ferry permit and take off clearance and preparing the plane for a ferry flight. A $500 deposit will be required from the successful bidder with the balance due before the aircraft is signed over.
QUESTIONS THAT WERE NOT ANSWERED IN THE ABOVE DESCRIPTION:
> Are the logbooks all there, any missing ?
I have all the logbooks.
> Corrosion, has the airframe been checked or has it been treated for it ?
It was looked over carefully within the past month, though no inspection
plates were pulled. Wheel wells, nose area and visible areas of the
fuselage were viewed. This was a knowledgeable person, not a
professional. He reported finding almost no signs of corrosion.
> Before running up the engines, did anyone borescope to check for
rust or other issues?
No. However, one of the people with me when we started the engines was
the A&P and the AI who had done most of the maintenance on the plane.
Engines were propped gently, feeling for any problems before ever
engaging the starters.
> Had those engines been prepped for long storage?
No. Long storage was not anticipated. I was moving out of the area
from my home of 30 years and that was a process that took some time.
Then 9-11 happened and the airport (closest one to the White House) was
closed down tight. By the time that was over, all mechanics had moved
away from the field and it just got away from me.
> Props, are they Hartzell or McCauley, what model/serial numbers?
I believe they are Hartzell props. For more, I"d have to dig the
logbooks out of the safe. Naturally they are variable pitch. They are
well past rebuild time in years.
> Is there any maintenance available , a local mechanic that can change
out the tires and do some kind of prebuy inspection?
I would have to ask around. My mechanic (mentioned above) is in
Pennsylvania and came as a favor to me. I could try to put you in touch
with him, but he is not local. I do know one or two other A&Ps who are
closer. I"d have to get in touch and see. I am a mechanic, not an A&P,
but with many years of experience and all the tools and equipment. Up
to a point, I"m willing to assist.
