ALL OF THE TAPER WINGED ARCHERS ARE GOOD AIRPLANES, WITH A GREAT DASH LAYOUT, 4 COMFORTABLE BUCKET SEATS, AND PLENTY OF REAR BAGGAGE SPACE, ACCESSIBLE IN FLIGHT OR FROM A LARGE EXTERNAL DOOR.

THIS AIRCRAFT IS EQUIPPED WITH THE PIPER AUTOCONTROL 3B AUTOPILOT, WHICH CAN PROVIDE WING LEVELING, HEADING HOLD, AND RADIO/GPS COUPLING
THIS SYSTEM IS INSTALLED AND INTACT, AND WAS FUNCTIONAL, BUT THE D.G. WITH HEADING BUG WAS REMOVED, AND IS NOT INCLUDED.
THE REST OF THE INSTRUMENTATION, BOTH FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS AND ENGINE/AIRFRAME INSTRUMENTS, ARE 100% INTACT.
THIS AIRPLANE SUFFERED DAMAGE WHEN THE PRIVATE PILOT FLARED TOO HIGH, GOT IMPATIENT, AND LOWERED THE NOSE TOO HARD !!
THE TUBULAR ENGINE MOUNT, WHICH IS ALSO THE NOSEGEAR MOUNT, BROKE A TUBE, WHICH ALLOWED THE NOSEGEAR ASSEMBLY TO MOVE BACKWARD A FEW INCHES.
A FEW INCHES IS ENOUGH TO DO SOME DAMAGE, I.E.:
THE UPPER GEAR TUBE PUSHED INTO THE CABIN HEAT BOX, WHICH SITS ON THE LOWER FIREWALL. A REPLACEMENT BOX WILL NEED TO BE BOLTED ON
THE NOSE SCISSORS PUSHED UP AND INTO THE LOWER FIREWALL AND THE CENTER OF THE FIRST BELLY SKIN.
REMEMBER HOW I TALKED ABOUT THE BIG WHEELPANTS OF THE 1978 AND UP ARCHER? WELL THE TRAILING EDGE OF THAT NOSEPANT PUT A DENT IN THE CENTER BELLY SKIN.
THE PANT IS DAMAGED, BUT AS IT IS FIBERGLASS, NOT PLASTIC, IT CAN BE REPAIRED.
THE NOSE TIRE IS FLAT FROM THE HARD IMPACT, BUT THE WHEEL AND FORK, AND EVEN THE CHROME NOSEGEAR TUBE DO NOT SHOW ANY OBVIOUS SIGNS OF DAMAGE. THE WHEEL WILL NEED A GOOD INSPECTION WITHOUT THE PANT OR TIRE IN THE WAY TO BE SURE.
THE COOL NEWS IN ALL OF THIS IS THAT THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE LOWER COWL AT ALL !!
NO DAMAGE TO ANY OF THE PAINTED SKIN OF THE WHOLE AIRPLANE EITHER, EXCEPT THAT 9" WIDE CENTER SKIN ON THE BELLY, BETWEEN TWO OF THE RAISED "RAILS" THAT FORM THE CHEROKEE SPINE. SINCE THESE RAILS ARE NOT HURT, IT SEEMS LIKE THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO PUT A NEW PIECE OF SKIN RIGHT DOWN THE CENTER, BETWEEN THE RAILS, OR I HAVE EVEN SEEN THE DENTED AREAS WITH A STRATEGICALLY PLACED INSPECTION HOLE AND PLATE ADDED IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE.
SO NO AREAS THAT CAN BE SEEN FROM ABOVE WILL REQUIRE REPAINTING !!
OF COURSE THE ENGINE MOUNT WILL REQUIRE OVERHAUL OR REPLACEMENT
AND YOU CAN SEE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PROP !!
BENT ON BOTH BLADES, SO IT IS SHOT, AND THE ENGINE REQUIRES A COMPLETE PROP STRIKE INSPECTION. OBVIOUSLY, WITH ONLY 534 HOURS SINCE MAJOR, THE ENGINE DOES NOT REQUIRE A MAJOR OVERHAUL !! THE COST OF THE PROP STRIKE INSPECTION IS 1/4 TO 1/3 THAT OF AN OVERHAUL !!
THE FIBERGLASS SPINNER ISN"T HURT AT ALL.
AND THAT IS ALL THE DAMAGE TO THIS NICE AIRPLANE !!

ALSO INSTALLED ARE AN INSIGHT "STRIKEFINDER" FOR LIGHTNING DETECTION, A VERTICAL CARD COMPASS, STANDBY VACUMN SYSTEM AND DIGITAL OUTSIDE AIR TEMP GUAGE.
