THIS AIRPLANE WAS REIMPORTED BACK TO THE U.S. FROM OVERSEAS IN 2005, AND GIVEN A COMPLETE FRESHENING IN 2006
SOLD AGAIN IN 2014, IT WAS ON IT"S WAY TO THE PAINT SHOP TO GET THE N NUMBER SECTION ON THE FUSELAGE PAINTED WITH A NEW N NUMBER (N10RL), WHEN THE PILOT HAD A PROBLEM DURING LANDING ROLL-OUT.
IT APPEARS THAT THE GEAR SWITCH WAS ACCIDENTALLY SELECTED INSTEAD OF THE FLAPS.
THE GOOD NEWS IS, THE AIRPLANE HAD ALREADY SLOWED DOWN QUITE A BIT
THE BETTER NEWS IS THAT THE P BARON HAS 2 STEPS, ONE ON EACH SIDE, AND THESE TOOK A LOT OF THE PRESSURE OFF THE BELLY. IN ADDITION, SEVERAL FORWARD MOUNTED ANTENNAS SACRIFICED THEMSELVES TO THE SCRAPING, AND ACTED LIKE SKIDS !!
DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED TO BOTH PROPS, SO BOTH ENGINES WILL REQUIRE ATTENTION,(BUT NOT OVERHAUL OF COURSE, BECAUSE THEY ONLY HAVE 606 SMOH ON A 1500 TBO)
THE NOSE GEAR AND INBOARD MAIN GEAR DOORS ARE SCRAPED (THE OUTBOARD MAIN DOORS ARE UNDAMAGED
THE BELLY HAS SCRAPING STARTING AT THE AFT EDGE OF THE NOSE GEAR WELL, BACK ABOUT 2 FEET, TO A POINT WELL FORWARD OF THE FRONT SPAR CARRY TROUGH.
THE ONLY DAMAGE AFT OF THAT POINT IS TO BOTH STEPS, ONE ANTENNA, AND THE BELLY BEACON
THE PITOT TUBE IS DEFORMED
THE FIBERGLASS NOSECONE/RADOME IS NOT SCRAPED UP
THERE IS NO APPARENT DEFORMATION TO THE FUSELAGE, AND THE DOORS FIT AND LATCH PERFECTLY
THE WINGS ARE UNDAMAGED, WITH ONLY THE LENSES ON THE TIPS SHOWING CRACKING FROM HANDLING
PROPERLY DISASSEMBLED, WITH ALL CABLES AND WIRES BEING PROPERLY REMOVED, NOT CUT.
NO TAIL DAMAGE, NO AILERON DAMAGE
ONE FLAP HAS A SCRAPE TO THE TRAILING EDGE BOTTOM SKIN, THE OTHER WILL NOT REQUIRE PATCHING OR REPLACEMENT OF ANY SKINS
