1981 PIPER AEROSTAR 602P/SUPERSTAR 700, HEAVILY MODDED AND UPDATED, DAMAGED, FOR PARTS OR ? CHEAP !!
IF YOU ARE EVEN LOOKING AT THIS LISTING, YOU ARE PROBABLY AWARE OF SOME OF THE DETAILS OF THE AEROSTAR LINE.
PRESSURIZED, WITH A CAPABILITY OF HIGHER ALTITUDES WITHOUT SUPPLEMENTAL OXYGEN THAN ANY OTHER PISTON TWIN.
FASTER THAN THE OTHERS AS WELL !!
THIS AIRPLANE STARTED LIFE AS A 602P, THE LAST OF THE SERIES, WITH ALL OF THE FACTORY IMPROVEMENTS THAT PIPER HAD ADDED OVER THE YEARS OF PRODUCTION
IT WAS THEN UPGRADED TO THE MACHEN SUPERSTAR 700, WITH LOADS AND LOADS OF MACHEN MODS.
AND THEN THE PILOT SCREWED IT UP.
THE PROFESSIONAL PILOT TOOK TWO FAA APPROVED DRUGS THE MORNING OF THE FLIGHT. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY WERE NOT APPROVED TOGETHER !!
LANDING VERY LONG AND VERY FAST ON A TRIP TO THE SAND POINT IDAHO AIRPORT, HE DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKES DONT WORK UNTIL YOU ARE FIRMLY PLANTED ON THE GROUND,(WHICH HE WASN"T) AND HE WENT STRAIGHT OFF THE RUNWAY AND THROUGH THE ILS EQUIPMENT AT THE END, WHICH, UNFORTUNATELY DAMAGED THIS AIRPLANE, THE ILS, AND THE PILOT"S PRIDE, I WOULD ASSUME. (NO INJURIES THANKFULLY)
THE AIRPLANE SUFFERED A COLLAPSE OF THE NOSE AND BOTH MAIN GEARS
THERE IS DAMAGE TO THE AIRFRAME STARTING AT THE RADOME AND THE FORWARD NOSE CONE.
THE NOSE GEAR FOLDED BACK INTO THE WELL AND THERE IS SOME IMPACT DAMAGE AROUND THE WELL, BUT THE TRUNION AND LOWER LEG WITH WHEEL LOOKS OK
THE MAIN GEAR LEGS, TRUNIONS, AND WHEELS AND BRAKES ALSO LOOK OK
THE LEFT WING IS WRINKLED AT THE TIP, LEADING EDGE AND INBOARD AS WELL
THE RIGHT WING HAS ONLY LIGHT, SUPERFICIAL SCRAPING, AND IS BASICALLY A GOOD PART.
COWLINGS AND ENGINE MOUNTS, AS WELL AS ALL ENGINE CONTROL CABLES ARE INTACT.
THE TSIO-540-U2A 350 H.P. ENGINES AND TURBOS, AS WELL AS THE BOLT ON ACCESSORIES, EXHAUST AND PROPS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS LISTING.
THERE IS MISC BELLY DAMAGE, AND DAMAGE TO THE TAIL CONE AFT OF THE PRESSURE VESSEL
THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE BELLY TANK OR OPTIONAL 44 GALLON MACHEN AUX FUSELAGE TANK !!
ALL OF THE PUMPS, GUAGES, SENDERS AND SWITCHES FOR THE AUX TANK ARE SIMILARLY INCLUDED.
NO DAMAGE TO THE HORIZONTAL, ELEVATORS, VERTICAL OR RUDDER.
NO DAMAGE TO THE HEATER OR REAR MOUNTED AIR UNIT.
INSIDE, THE AIRPLANE IS BEAUTIFUL !!
REAR BENCH, MIDDLE BUCKET THAT SWIVELS TO FACE EITHER FORWARD OR AFT AND PILOT AND COPILOT SEATS ARE ALL FINISHED IS SOFT SUPPLE PUMPKIN SPICE LEATHER !!

OPTIONAL BUILT IN PULL DOWN SHADES ARE ALL IN PERFECT CONDITION.
SOME OF THE AVIONICS WERE REMOVED,AND ARE NOT INCLUDED, BUT MOST OF THE STANDARD FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS, PILOT AND COPILOT, AS WELL AS ALL SWITCHGEAR AND CIRCUIT PROTECTION IS INCLUDED
EQUIPPED WITH AND INCLUDED ARE A KING KFC 200 AUTOPILOT SYSTEM, WITH ALL SERVOS INCLUDED AND MOUNTED, AS WELL AS THE CONTROLLER, ANNUNCIATOR PANEL AND REMOTE COMPUTER
BENDIX COLOR RADAR RT UNIT AND DISPLAY ARE ALSO INCLUDED, AND GOOD, BUT THE DISH ITSELF WAS DAMAGED
