You are looking at a really nice 1981 Mooney 201 M20J that we recently finished the repairs on. the plane is ready to go with an august annual. There really isn"t anything to do to the plane but fly it. Everything works as it should and the plane flies straight and true. What else will haul four people and baggage for 500 to 600 miles burning 10.5 gallons an hour at 150 to 155 knots? The Mooney line of aircraft are notorious for being dependable and fast on a meager amount of fuel. The annual inspections are very reasonable as the plane is equipped with the bulletproof 4 cylinder 200 horsepower injected Lycoming engine. The landing gear is comprised of rods and joints so it is very easy to inspect at annual as well.
From what we understand the plane landed to the right of centerline and exited the side of the runway. The right wing contacted a taxiway sign and received damage on the leading edge of the wing in three areas. The landing gear retract rod was bent in the accident as well. The very tip of the prop blades received very slight damage when the plane crossed the edge of the runway and dropped off of the pavement. The plane was flown from Ohio to Morristown Tennessee on a ferry flight with no issues whatsoever.
leading edge sections, the largest being about twelve inches in length, were grafted into the leading edge. We used sections removed from a parts wing we have here at our shop. We have done this same repair many times in the past. You must know where to look, and look at it closely to find the repairs.
The engine was a different issue altogether. it turned into a discussion among all of the local mechanics as to whether a prop strike inspection was actually needed. There was no loss of RPM, so half of the consensus was it wasn"t needed. We went ahead and performed the inspection anyway, just for peace of mind. There was NO sudden stoppage. We purchased another prop for the plane to further the buyer"s peace of mind, but have many pictures of the original prop as well as the prop itself, should anyone wish to inspect it. The plane has been flown quite a bit since performing the inspection. No oil leaks and it performs exactly as it should
Plane has 1630 on a brand new engine and 3100 total time on the airframe. Compressions at the annual were 73/74/74/76. Plane burns no oil to speak of
The plane is a 1981 model but has many mods and additions by Mod Works in florida. all are documented.fiberglass wingtips with built in anternnas and strobesone piece belly panelwing root fairings1/4 inch glassreclining rear seatsinboard gear doorsmodification of dual magnetos to get rid of the troublesome Siamese{ single} magnetostandby electric vacuum

This is a nice little plane but remember it is some 30 years old and as such is not perfect. There are some scratches on it as it has been used as a plane, not a hangar queen. I would have no problem getting in the plane and flying it California.
please call me at 423-273-3557 if you have any questions about the plane or just to familiarize yourself with Mooney aircraft. ask for Brent. The aircraft is located in Morristown Tennessee.
You are welcome to inspect the plane prior to close of the auction but do so before that. No buying and then looking please. I can send you pictures of anything that you need to see if you cant get here. my hangar and tools are at your disposal.
We have a gentleman here who would be happy to deliver the plane to you after purchase if needed. He owns an older mooney and flies it regularly but would love the opportunity to fly this one to you. I will put you in touch with him if needed.
