1993 Vans RV6 - Lycoming O-320 160hp set up for constant speed prop.
**Very nice well built RV6 that sustained a very minor taxi accident** This is your chance to own a $60,000 airplane for a fraction of the price.
The repair is easy and straightforward. Parts are readily available and cheap. The O-320 with constant speed prop is in my mind one of the best engine combinations you could have on an RV. The 360, while more powerful, also weighs a lot more, requiring more nose up trim so it"s really not much faster and burns more fuel. In my last RV, I could easily keep up with the 360"s while running only a 150hp 320 with a fuel burn of 1.5-2gph less than they burned.
The previous owner of this plane used it for travel between South Florida and New York. On one trip, he was concerned about weather so he landed in South Carolina, rented a car and drove the rest of the way. The storm turned and was expected to hit South Carolina so he called the airport and had them put the plane in a hangar. The airport manager was unfamiliar with taxiing a tail-dragger and didn"t want to tow it with the golf cart. While taxiing, he ran into a parked Piper Aztec with the right wing. The leading outboard edge struck the piper, then the plane swung around and struck the piper with the prop. The lower cowling was ruined. Upper cowling is salvageable. Two of the exhaust pipes were damaged, as were a couple of intake tubes. The alternator bracket is cracked. **I have performed a run out test and removed the magneto drive gear and replaced it as well as the pin so it"s good to go** The leading edge of one wing is damaged so it will require a couple of forward ribs and a wing skin. The repair is cheap, easy and straightforward. One piece of sheet metal between windshield and firewall will need replacement. The tail wheel bracket is slightly bent from transporting and there"s a few other nicks and scuffs from transporting.
There is NO damage to firewall or engine mount.
AIRFRAME Very nice and well built Tip-Up canopy which provides outstanding visibility - far better than the sliding canopy. There are ONLY 574 hours TTAF. Paint is in above average condition with minor blemishes. Fuel tanks are standard 19 gallon tanks with no signs of leakage. This is a very well built RV6 with above average workmanship.
ENGINE ONLY 530 hours since major overhaul on a high performance Lycoming O-320-E2A with 8.5:1 compression and aftermarket fuel injection, set up for a constant speed prop.
PROP
No prop is included in this auction but I do have a zero hour Hartzell prop which I will sell following the aircraft sale or offer it to the buyer for $4000.
