Over its 37 year life it had been maintained according to Cessna 100 series 100 Hour/Annual Inspections. Only airframe repairs noted is left aileron skin replacement in Jan 2013 at 8557.7 Total Time Airframe.”
This aircraft was used by Tupelo Regional Airport"s Fixed Base Operator, Tupelo Aviation Unlimited (TAU) as a rental aircraft. The aircraft had an Annual inspection started in November 2015. During the inspection,one cylinder on the engine was replaced as part of the 100 hour engine inspection. Although the cylinder compression was satisfactory after replacing the cylinder, the engine did not make full power due to a likely worn out camshaft. The total time on the engine indicated a major overhaul was required. The annual inspection was therefore stopped and the aircraft was taken out of service and later declared surplus property.
