Military style intercom systemMilitary records included This airplane was purchased by the US Army in 1965 as a multi engine/instrument trainer for the Viet-Nam era fixed wing pilots. There were 65 T-42 airplanes in the original fleet with 10 additional T-42’s later purchased by the Army. When the training mission was complete for the T-42 they were dispersed to various Army units to be used as utility aircraft. In 1986 this airplane was released from the Army inventory and donated to the Blackhawk technical Institute in Janesville WI where it remained until 2014 when it was purchased by the current owner. It was ferried to Milwaukee (MKE) and has been in the shop for restoration since.This T-42 has been kept in the original military configuration with one exception, the old style attitude gyros were replaced with more modern gyros. On the left is a 28VDC horizon and on the right is a vacuum horizon. The windshield has been replaced with a new ¼ inch windshield from Great Lakes Aero, the instrument panel was painted and the instruments are crisp and easily readable. The seats have been reupholstered. The engines have been checked over and many new components installed. Fuel and oil hoses were replaced and the left engine fuel injection system overhauled both alternators were sent out and repaired and tested. The control yoke has been overhauled and repainted. Items replaced or overhauled include:1. both voltage regulators were replaced with new Zeftronics regulators.2. Left fuel boost pump was exchanged for OHC pump from RAPCO.3. Left engine fuel injection system overhauled4. Left and right brake discs replaced (dual brake system)5. New 2 piece ¼” thick windshield, FAA/PMA.6. Left attitude gyro 3-1/4”28 VDC, blue and brown.7. Right attitude gyro 3-1/4” vacuum, blue and brown.8. seats recovered 2015, material FAA approved, paperwork included.9. New left engine ignition harness.10.Left and right alternators sent in for test and repair, new yellow tags.11.Seat belts overhauled by Aero Fabricators 12/14.12.Right engine tach generator.13.Instrument panel repainted.14.Control yoke restored. 1 ea.
