I picked up this Convair prop from a boneyard in Tucson. I polished the blades and dome, painted the hub in Imron gloss black, and bolted it together with stainless bolts. The mount I made from steel and "decorated" it with a hand grinder, clear coated it, and bolted it to the wall with galvanized lag bolts. It is approximately 13 feet in diameter and weighs nearly 600lbs with the mount. The word that comes from every persons mouth when they walk through the door is "Wow", whether they know anything about aviation or not. I"m selling it because I just moved and unfortunately don"t have a wall big enough now to hang it. It would look great in the lobby of an FBO, Corporate hangar, or really any wall that could fit it. There was a company here on eBay selling just single blades from these props that were mounted to a floor base for $10k! Given this is the complete prop, my reserve is vastly more reasonable than that. Local pickup is certainly preferred, but I will (once paid in full) disassemble, crate, and ship (probably 2) for all associated costs. It assembles/disassembles fairly easy if you have enough help. It took seven guys and a case of beer to get it up on my wall. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! On Oct-06-16 at 09:04:17 PDT, seller added the following information:I"ve received a few questions on how the prop comes apart. The dome comes of via the large spanner nut as seen in the pictures. Once it is loose the dome is pulled off, carefully I should add as it is 100lbs by itself. Once it is off there are two allen set screws that thread through the mount and lock the prop onto it. Remove them and the prop slides off the mount. Once the prop is lying on the floor, remove the perimeter bolts on the hub to split the hub and the whole thing comes apart. Each blade is roughly 6" and weighs 110lbs. Once apart it could easily be transported in a pickup truck. Current date: 2016-11-21
